EFTPS 4digit pin and 941 e-file 10 digit pin not carrying forward

Ever since we upgraded to Enterprise 2022, when we go to make an EFTPS payment or e-file a form 941, the 4 and 10 digit pin are not carrying forward.  We have to enter it each time we have to e pay or e-file payroll forms.  Anyone know if QB is aware of this or if they have plans to fix it. Customer support doesn't have a clue.

Before doing some troubleshooting steps to resolve this unexpected behavior, let's ensure your computer meets the system requirements of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Then Update QuickBooks to the latest release and your Payroll Tax Table. These updates provide the most current and accurate rates and calculations for supported state and federal tax tables, payroll tax forms, and e-file and payment options.

 

Once done, let's isolate this concern for possible damage by running the verify and rebuild tool. This is a built-in tool that auto-detect and self-resolves any minor company file data issues. Here's how:

 

To Verify Data:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Choose Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data.
    • If QuickBooks doesn't find any problems, select OK. You can keep using your company file. You don't have any data damage.

To Rebuild Data:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Go to Utilities and select Rebuild Data.
  3. Hit OK to back up your company file.
  4. Wait until the Rebuild is complete.
  5. Click View Results.

Just to confirm, did you receive any error messages when trying to make an EFTPS payment or e-file a form? Any additional details will be much appreciated.

None of the items you listed will correct the problem I am having.  I tried all of your suggestions, I am totally up to date with the program, I don't get any error making a EFTPS payment, but the only way to make one is to manually enter the 4 digit pin an password every time and for every client when I make a EFTPS payment.  It is a bug in the program, please advise your engineers so they can fix it.

While the steps provided by my colleague didn't remove the problem, the best team to help you out with this is our Payroll Support people. They can check your account and provide additional troubleshooting steps or get this escalated for a fix.

 

Use these steps to contact us: 

 

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Hit Search then scroll down to get your contact options.

I have been talking to numerous QB support team, and none of them even understand the problem, I can't call them because they just don't get it. I need someone on your end the see if they can re-create the problem, if not then there must be something wrong with my software.  This happens on multiple computers, and I spoke with a colleague, and it is happening to them also.

Upon further research for this concern, I found an open investigation (INV-63359). Please know that our engineers are working diligently to get this matter resolved as soon as possible. 

 

I recommend contacting our Support Team and providing them with the investigation number. This way, you can be added to the list of affected users and will be notified once it's been resolved.

I have the same problem, for me become in a nightmare, because i have to use a lot of pin and password for my client, and obviously is software problem. I recommend don't use QB 2022 until they fix the problem.

Well, as expected, that time - "as soon as possible" - has now passed. It's been 10 days since you posted this, and longer since the INV-63359 investigation has been opened.

 

Intuit it quite capable of churning out a patch in two weeks - when they want to. That hasn't happened, and so it can only be surmised that your engineers are in fact not working diligently to get this matter resolved as soon as possible.

This same thing is happening to me with QB Accountant 2022.  My passwords and PINs for filing and paying are not carrying forward.  Any news on this?

Our engineers are all hands on deck working together for an immediate fix to sort everything out. While they do, I would advise you to get in touch with our QuickBooks Support and have them attach your account information to the ongoing investigation. Any progress will be communicated via email.

I'm having the same problem.  Updated to 2022 - same computer.  Even though I check the box to "remember this information for next time" it doesn't and I have to re-enter, which means I have to find my password and PIN.

Currently, our product engineers are still working regarding this odd behavior after upgrading to QBDT 2022. If you haven't contacted our Support team yet, I highly suggest you do so, so you'll be added to our notification list. This will also help our engineers determine the number of affected users.

On the screen where it is asking for the Pin numbers just under that box is a small box to check

it says remember this for next time. If you check that box you won't have this problem again.

Wow, this must be really important for everyone - all hands - to be working on it for an "immediate" fix!

 

Now that it's been two weeks, have they figured it out? It doesn't seem that complicated...

I am working in 2022.  why would they keep the box in the application if it doesn't work?  why would they get rid of a convenient feature?

Hello, tunuyan. 

 

Good news! I've checked with our engineering team, and the Investigation has already been closed and resolved. I have troubleshooting steps to ensure that you'll be able to carry over the 4 and 10 digit pin every time you e-payment or e-file a form 941 in QuickBooks Desktop.  

 

Though, the new PIN does not save the 1st time a customer uses it, it will only save after the next transmission as stated in this help article Update your EFTPS Internet password.

 

To change your password in QuickBooks Desktop when making an e-payment: 

 

  1. From the Payroll Center, select the Pay Liabilities tab.
  2. In the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, select the federal liability to e-pay, and select View/Pay.
  3. Verify that E-payment is selected, and select E-pay.
  4. Clear the Remember My Information for next Time checkbox.
  5. Enter your 4-Digit PIN and new EFTPS Internet password.
  6. Enter any other missing information.
  7. Select Submit.

The next time you make e-payment, re-enter your 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password, and select the Remember My Information for next Time option.

So is it fixed or not Admin Charles????? Cause the message from Aileen (can't see it anymore) just before your s says iit was fixed. Guess what? it's not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been e-filing 941s since 2013. Up till 10/7/21. Tried to e-file the 4th quarter of 21 just now....10 digit e-file PIN is missing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Box just below is ticked to remember the information above!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
