QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies

We understand that circumstances change, and sometimes it's necessary to make adjustments. But before you cancel, familiarize yourself with our cancelation policies.

Important: If you missed your payments, the system automatically puts your file on hold for a week. The timeframe is from the date/time the system detects your subscription is inactive.

When this happens, you won't be able to open your file until you either renew your subscription or set it up for view-only mode. The view-only mode will last for a year until you process a repayment.

Check your email for instructions on what to do in this situation. Find info on when we will re-attempt the payment to resume service.

Cancelation policies

Select from the following products and services to learn more about the cancelation policies.

You may cancel your QuickBooks Customer Care Protection Plan at any time.

Monthly or quarterly (90-day) plan

The following conditions apply to monthly and quarterly plans:

  • You may cancel it for free.
  • You'll continue to have access to your service through the end of your current subscription period.
  • Your service will end at the next auto-renewal date.
  • You won't get a refund if you cancel before the next auto-renewal date.

Once you cancel your service, you'll no longer be able to do the following:

  • Get assisted support for issues and questions not covered by the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies without additional fee/s.
  • Get Data Recovery services without additional fee/s.
  • Use other services included in your plan, such as Intuit Data Protect.

Annual plan

You may cancel your QuickBooks support plan with annual billing. However, it's important to understand that support plans have specific terms and conditions.

If you cancel within the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee period
This subscription has a 60-day money back guarantee. You'll only receive a full refund for your subscription if you cancel within 60 days from sign-up. Your refund goes to the credit or debit card you used to purchase your subscription with.
Note: If you need to use a different card to get your refund, contact us so we can help.

If you cancel after the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee period

  • You won't receive a prorated refund for the unused portion of your subscription.
  • You'll continue to have access to your service through the end of your current subscription period.
  • Your service will end at the next auto-renew date.

Once you cancel your service, you'll no longer be able to do the following:

  • Get assisted support for issues and questions not covered by the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies without additional fee/s.
  • Get Data Recovery services without additional fee/s.
  • Use other services included in your plan, such as Intuit Data Protect.

You may cancel your QuickBooks Enterprise (Gold, Silver, or Platinum) subscription with monthly billing. However, it's important to understand that support plans have specific terms and conditions.
Note: You're eligible for a prorated refund when you upgrade your subscription. This means you may cancel your current subscription and get a prorated refund for the remaining months when you upgrade.

This subscription has a 60-day money back guarantee. You'll only receive a full refund for your subscription if you cancel within 60 days from sign-up. Your refund goes to the credit or debit card you used to purchase your subscription with.

If you cancel after the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee period

  • If you cancel after the first 60 days and prior to the end of month 12 of your subscription, a termination fee applies. This equals the amount of monthly payments left on your subscription.

    For example, if you have 3 months remaining on your subscription (which starts on the date of enrollment) a termination fee equal to the current monthly fee for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise multiplied by 3 months (or the remaining months left on the subscription) will be charged.
  • You won't receive a prorated refund for the unused portion of your subscription.

Once you cancel your service, you'll no longer be able to do the following:

  • Get assisted support for issues and questions not covered by the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies without additional fee/s.
  • Get Data Recovery services without additional fee/s.
  • Use other services included in your plan, such as Intuit Data Protect.

You may cancel your QuickBooks Pro Plus subscription at any time.
Note: You're eligible for a prorated refund when you upgrade your subscription. This means you may cancel your current subscription and get a prorated refund for the remaining months when you upgrade.

You may cancel your Payroll subscription at any time.

Monthly plan

The following conditions apply to monthly plans:

  • You may cancel it for free.
  • You'll continue to have access to your service through the end of your current subscription period.
  • Your service will end at the next auto-renewal date.
  • You won't get a refund if you cancel before the next auto-renewal date.

Once you cancel your service, you'll no longer be able to do the following:

  • Get expert support for payroll-related issues and questions not covered by the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies without additional fee/s.
  • Download payroll updates in QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Process and print payroll tax forms.
  • Continue to use other services included with your payroll subscription, such as direct deposit, QuickBooks Workforce, e-file, and e-pay.

Annual plan

You may cancel your QuickBooks Payroll subscription with annual billing, however, it's important to understand that the support plan has specific terms and conditions.

If you cancel within the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee period
This subscription has a 60-day money back guarantee. You'll only receive a full refund for your subscription if you cancel within 60 days from sign-up. Your refund goes to the credit or debit card you used to purchase your subscription with.

If you cancel after the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee period

  • You won't get a prorated refund for the unused portion of your subscription.
  • You'll continue to have access to your service through the end of your current subscription period.

Once you cancel your service, you'll no longer be able to do the following:

  • Get expert support for payroll-related issues and questions not covered by the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies without additional fee/s.
  • Download payroll updates in QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Process and print payroll tax forms.
  • Continue to use other services included with your payroll subscription such as direct deposit, QuickBooks Workforce, e-file, and e-pay.

Intuit Data Protect
You may cancel your Intuit Data Protect (IDP) subscription at any time.

The following conditions apply:

  • You won't get a refund for the unused portion of your subscription.
  • Your service will end at the next auto-renewal date.
  • You'll continue to have access to IDP through the end of your current subscription period.
  • We’ll keep your backed-up files for 30 days after you cancel your IDP subscription.

Field Service Management
You may cancel your Field Service Management subscription at any time.

The following conditions apply:

  • You won't get a refund for the unused portion of your subscription.
  • You'll continue to have access to your service through the end of your current subscription period.
  • Your subscription will end at the next auto-renewal date.

If you wish to cancel other QuickBooks Connected Services, you may request a refund for your QuickBooks product.

You’re entitled to a full refund if:

  • You cancel your ProAdvisor Deluxe or Premium membership within 60 days of purchase.
  • You cancel your ProAdvisor Deluxe or Premium membership within 60 days of your last annual renewal.
    Note: You may not be able to use some or all of the QuickBooks software you received through that membership if you choose to get a refund.

You can’t keep any of the QuickBooks software you received from your membership if:

  • You purchased your membership 60 or less than 60 days ago.
  • You renewed your membership 60 or less than 60 days ago.
    Note: Any software before that renewal will remain active even after you cancel your membership.

If you want to cancel after the 60-day window, we can cancel your membership's auto-renewal instead, so that it doesn't bill you again.
Note:

  • Your membership will end at the next auto-renewal date.
  • You won't lose any of your software when this happens.
  • You'll no longer receive new versions of QuickBooks from your membership.
  • You'll no longer get QuickBooks Desktop ProAdvisor benefits such as certifications and support.
