by Intuit• Updated 4 weeks ago
Use Product Recommendation content blocks to send your contacts product suggestions from your online store. Select a connected store and showcase recommendations for products a customer has in their cart, best sellers, new arrivals, most viewed, and more. Further customize them by price, inventory, or both.
In this article, you’ll learn how to use Product Recommendation content blocks in the new email builder.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.
- This feature is available with a supported online store or custom API 3.0 integration.
- This article tells you how to use Product Recommendation content blocks for the new builder. To use Product Recommendation content blocks in the classic builder, check out Use Product Recommendation Content Blocks in the Classic Builder.
- If your store has enough purchase data, you’ll have the option to include products based on a customer’s purchase history. To learn more, check out About Purchase History Product Recommendations.

Use Product Recommendation content blocks
To use a Product Recommendation content block, follow these steps. You’ll have the option to create a product feed or select an existing one.
- Click or drag a Product Rec block into your layout.
- If you have more than one connected store, use the Select a store to pull products from drop-down and choose the store you want to work with. When you’re ready to send your email, make sure you select the audience connected to this store.
- In the Select a product feed drop-down, choose Create a new product feed.
If you’ve previously created a product feed, select it from the list and click Next. Skip steps 4-7. - Click the Select a recommendation type drop-down and choose from the list of personalized or classic recommendations. Products based on a customer’s purchase history will display if your store meets certain data requirements.
- Click the Select a fallback recommendation drop-down and choose a different product to display if your first recommendation type doesn’t apply, or if there aren't enough products to display. For example, if you selected 4 Products a customer has recently viewed, but your recipient has viewed only 1 product, the other 3 products will be your fallback recommendation.
If you don’t choose a fallback recommendation, or if your fallback recommendation doesn't have any products to display, we’ll display a random product. - Click Add a filter and use the Select a filter drop-down to customize your products by price, inventory, or both.
- Enter a name in the Name your product feed field and click Save.
If you don’t want to save your feed, uncheck the Save this product feed for future use box and click Apply.
Customize a Product Recommendation block
To customize a Product Recommendation content block, follow these steps.
- On the Content tab, use the Number of recommendations drop-down to choose how many products to include in the email.
- Click the Range to display drop-down to choose which products to show in the content block.
- The first range option will always display the most relevant products to each recipient.
- If you include multiple recommendations, adjust the range to display the next batch of products to avoid duplicate recommendations. For example, if you use 2 product recommendation blocks with 2 products each, select a range of 1-2 to display for the first block, and a range of 3-4 for the second block.
- Choose a horizontal or vertical layout for your product images.
- Toggle the Optional details sliders to include or exclude a product Title, Price, or Button.
- Click the Color selector to change the Block Background color.
- Click the Design tab to change the font, format, alignment, and color for the Product Title and Product Price. Choose your Button text and Alignment.
- Click Done.
Click Styles to apply the same design to all the buttons in your email, including your Product recommendation buttons. For more information about Styles, check out Design an Email with the New Builder.
