Learn how to merge duplicate customers in QuickBooks Online.
Merge any customer profiles you have accidentally duplicated into a single profile. This deletes one profile and moves their existing data into the profile you want to keep.

Know the prerequisites
Check that neither customer you want to merge has sub-customers before you merge them. If they do, change their sub-customers into regular customers first. Sub-customers include projects linked to the customer. Make sure you remove the projects or sub-customers from the customers so you can merge them.
Merge two customers together
Follow this link to complete the steps in product
- Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
- Select the Menu ☰ icon.
- Select the Customer Hub ▼ dropdown, then select Customers.
- Select and open the customer profile you don’t want to keep.
- Select the Edit ▼ dropdown, then select Merge contacts.
- Select the Into ▼ dropdown, then select the name of the customer profile you want to keep.
- Select Merge contacts.
Note: The system saves the merged customer as inactive, like all deleted customers. Their transaction history will be empty even if you make them active again. Learn how.
The system also deletes the merged customer from your records and adds their transactions to the other profile’s transaction history.
