You must rebuild your company file to fix data damage if verifying data fails, and the following message appears in the QBWin.log:

REMINDER: The Inventory Asset account is used as an example, but this error may affect any Balance Sheet account.

Step 1: Rebuild your company file

  1. From the File menu, select Utilities then choose Rebuild Data.
  2. Click OK if you receive a message to back up your company file.
  3. Your computer may display the message QuickBooks is not responding. However, as long as you can move your cursor, QuickBooks is trying to rebuild your company data; wait for the process to complete.
  4. Click OK when you get the message Rebuild has completed.

Step 2: Verify the file again to resolve the issue

  1. From the File menu, select Utilities then choose Verify Data.
  2. Click OK when you see the message QuickBooks detected no problem with your data. You may continue using your company file.
