Create and manage goals in QuickBooks Workforce

by Intuit Updated 1 week ago

See how to set professional goals, organize them into folders, and track your progress in Workforce. Setting goals helps you stay aligned with your team’s objectives. You can create a standalone goal at any time or establish new ones during a performance review.

Create a new goal

Follow these steps to establish a new professional goal:

  1. Go to Performance and select Goals.
  2. Select Create Goal.
  3. Enter a Goal title, Description and Due Date for your goal.
  4. (Optional) Use the SMART framework sections (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) to add detail to your plan.
  5. Select Create.

Add milestones and metrics

To accurately track your success, add specific metrics to your goal:

  • Done/Not Done: Best for simple tasks or binary achievements.
  • Numeric: Use this to track a specific number, like "Complete 5 training sessions".
  • Percentage: Ideal for tracking progress toward a total, like "Finish 50% of the project by end of Q2".

Update your progress

Keep your records up to date so your manager can see your achievements.

  1. Go to Performance and select the Goals tab.
  2. Select the goal you want to update. This opens a side panel with your goal details.
  3. Update your milestones. The overall progress bar will automatically adjust.
  4. Use the Comments section to leave notes or context for your manager.

Edit or Archive Goals

  • Archive: Select Archive from the actions menu on the overview screen.
  • Edit: Select the goal and then select Edit from the actions menu.
