Start a workflow

Once you have published an HR workflow template, you can start the tasks and notifications defined within for the chosen team member(s) at any time. You can also schedule templates to start automatically in the future.

What you’ll need

  • An active QuickBooks Workforce subscription

Start a workflow

  1. If you are opening this in QuickBooks Online: Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Team, then HR workflows (Take me there). In QuickBooks Workforce: Select HR workflows.
  2. Find the workflow template you want to start and select Start HR workflow.
  3. Select assigned employees, then choose the employee you want to start this for.
  4. Select employees to confirm your list.
  5. Complete any required fields on the start form.
    • Important: Any information you enter here will apply to all selected employees. 
  6. Select Start or Continue.

Results

The workflow begins immediately, and task owners are notified to take action.

Next steps

To monitor the status of a process, go to HR workflows and select the Activity tab. By default, you will see all in-progress workflows, which you can then filter to find specific details.
