1099 Report is NOT WORKING anymore

Let's find out why the 1099 Vendor report is blank, DMV0808.

 

You'll want to make sure that you've properly set up your vendor profile so that the names will show on your report. 

  1. Go to Vendors, then open the Vendor Center
  2. Select and open the vendor's profile.
  3. Go to Tax settings
  4. Tick the Vendor eligible for 1099 box.
  5. Enter their tax ID. 
  6. Ensure other information is correct by checking it in the tabs. 
  7. Once done, click OK.

Then, make sure to run the 1099 Wizard to verify the data, map the accounts, and prepare the form for filing. Here's how: 

  1. Go to Vendors, then hover your mouse on Print/E-file 1099s.
  2. Choose 1099 Wizard.
  3. On the pop-up window, click the Get Started button.
  4. Choose your 1099 vendors, then click Continue.
  5. Verify their information and other details, then proceed with Continue.
  6. Map the accounts for 1099. 
  7. Review the payments on the next page.
  8. Confirm the entries, then finalize the form by either printing or e-filing it. 

However, if the report is still blank you can use the verify and rebuild data tool to fix any data issues.

I have the same problem to view the 1099 summary and 1099 detail reports. Always showing the Blank Page. Maybe was Since November past when the Quickbook program took a Update!

I'd like to share a few troubleshooting steps to help isolate the issue, Jvazquez93.

 

If you have marked your contractors as eligible for 1099 and they are paid above the annual $600 threshold, We can do the Verify and Rebuild Data. This helps determine any possible data damage and resolves the issue.

 

To Verify Data, go to the File Utilities Verify Data. If QuickBooks doesn't find any problems, select OK. You can keep using your company file. You don't have any data damage.

 

For the Rebuild Data, go back to File > Utilities > Rebuild Data. You can click the OK button to back up your company file and wait until the Rebuild is complete. You can repeat the same process two or three more times. 

 

Once done, restart your QuickBooks Desktop to ensure that all components are updated. Then, generate the 1099 Summary or Detail report again. 

 

If you're still seeing a blank page, you'll want to repair your QuickBooks Desktop program. You can find the instructions in resolving data damage on your company file here: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Is possible give me a link with Quickbook 2020 desktop Setup with previous R10 version?

As R8, R7, R5...

 

I tried verifying with rebiuld data and verify data, and all is Ok.

 

I believe that R10 update have problem because in the previous everythings were working fine.

 

In other PC with previous release update, took the Backup for view the 1099 report and Yes can view The Report. But this PC i dont like because have a slow processor.

1099 Report is NOT WORKING anymore

I had the same issue.  I need 1099-MISC.  I had to create a new account for the account that previously was Rent with subcategories of Land, Buildings,  of Equipment. I am not positive but I think QB created the new account of "Rent of Land and Equipment." I do not remember creating that account.  I had to go to all the payments and change the account to the new account.  I then put that account in the Vendor Account settings and verified that the box was checked 1099 and the SS# number was there (which it was) in the Tax settings.

 

I then had to go to the list of Vendors and uncheck all and then go through the entire list and check the Vendors that I wanted to send a 1099 to.  

 

I spent over 3 days off and on as well as reading lots of info online.  It took a lot of time and was unnecessary since the way it worked prior to this year was much more straight forward.  Also, everytime you leave the process you have to mark each Vendor again each time.  It will not save your selection.

 

You can no longer process the forms under Vendor Center.  It has to be processed under "File", "Print Forms", and then choose 1099 and 1096.

 

Hope this helps.  QB should have kept the system the way it was and ADDED the 1099-NEC instead of changing the 1099-MISC process.

Hello,

 

whenever I try to do anything with my 1099s I get a message saying I need to back up my data. I have auto online backup but I did another one and the message still came up. Tried the local backup and that didn’t help either. I have re-started QB to no avail. When I try to change the preferences as recommended I get the same message. Please help.

Our Quickbooks is updated and we cannot see the 1099 report to direct it to the correct 1099 boxes. It states it wants you to back up your files. Additionally, before the last update we were able to see our 1099 clients who would be on the Detail or Summary list now nothing comes up. We have over 100 clients on QB and cannot E file them. We also went to the Chart of Accounts and selected a tax line mapping but nothing happened and nothing shows up for the client who should receive a 1099

Joining the discussion to share some more information about this 1099 concern.

 

Creating a backup copy is part of the 1099 process in QuickBooks Desktop. You will see this in the Create your 1099s in QuickBooks Desktop section of this article: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop

 

At the moment, we can't skip this step, so if you get a prompt to do a back up, you can save it locally then delete it after.

 

We understand the need to have the option to bypass this step, most especially if your account is set up for automatic back up.

I want to make sure you're able to see the 1099 report, so you can direct it to the correct boxes in QuickBooks Desktop.

 

Since QuickBooks is in the latest release, ensure that the 1099 accounts are map correctly. This way, you can designate the correct report to the boxes. For the complete steps, visit this article: How to modify your chart of accounts for your 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC filing

 

As my peer mentioned above, generating a backup copy of your file is a component of the 1099 process. Also, to make sure you have a copy of your old data. 

 

When clients are missing from the list when mapping 1099, it could be because they're not active, marked as eligible for 1099, and the threshold is below $600. With this, I'd suggest checking the vendor's profile. To do this, please follow the steps provided by MaryJoyD

1099 Report is NOT WORKING anymore

I am an independent bookeeper with 10 clients, they all have different versions of Quickbooks.  One of the older versions I used this morning, I can print the 1099 NEC, but the box 1 does not line up like it is supposed to.  The newer version I am working on this afternoon Desktop Pro 2018 will not even go to the 1099 option.  When i go to Print Forms, 1099s, I get the update Quickbooks screen.  When i  tell it to run the updates, it says "nothing to update", I am still unable to go to the 1099 report or 1099 forms.  When I go to Edit, Preferences, 1099s, it only gives the option for 1099 Misc, no option for NEC.  I actually need both for most of my clients because they have contractors, plus rents and attorney fees to report.  How can I get this done?

There are unsupported versions of QuickBooks Desktop and forms such as 1099 aren't updated. This could be the reason why you're having an issue printing it. Please check this link for more details: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.

 

For the QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018, we can manually update it by following these steps:

  1. Close your company file and QuickBooks.
  2. Search for QuickBooks Desktop, right-click the icon, and select Run as administrator.
  3. On the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  4. From the Options tab, click Mark All and then select Save.
  5. Go to the Update Now tab and select the Reset Update checkbox.
  6. Tap Get Updates.

Another way is through our Downloads & Updates page. Search the QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018 and click Get the latest updates. Also, you'll want to get the latest payroll tax table update.

I FOUND THE FIX!!!!

In order to view data on the 1099 summary or detail for 1099NEC vendors, you must do it through the 1099 wizard.  

 

Click on Vendor tab at top

1099 forms

Print/E-File 1099 forms

You'll get a notice about "before you prepare and file forms 1099,,,," - click yes

You have the option to "Get Started" for 1099misc or 1099nec

Once you clicked get started for 1099nec, hit continue

Hit continue again (this is the verify your 1099 info screen)

Hit continue again (this is map vendor payments and accounts)

NOW you can view the detail report. at the top right where you see 1  2  3  4  5, just below the description for the numbers you will see View Detail Report :)

Click continue and in the same place on the next screen you will see View Summary Report :)

 

There you have it folks. 

 

 

NOTE: you can view 1099misc vendors from the vendor tab at top by selecting the report option, but his will not work for 1099nec vendors.

I am also not able to print my 1099 report...I am not trying to file the forms but just get the report so I can give it to my accountant .....the report just comes up blank and nothing I do make anything happen....Any help would be greatly appreciated....

I want to make sure you'll get your 1099 report printed in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @Mandy13.

 

Have you tried the detailed steps shared by @MDRobin above to view your 1099 report? If you haven't yet, I suggest giving it a try. However, if it still shows blank, let's update your QBDT to the latest release. This way, we can make sure the program gets the latest data. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu, then choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select the Update Now tab.
  3. Put a checkmark to the Reset Update and click Get Updates to start the download.
  4. Once done, click OK and restart QuickBooks.
  5. Accept the option to install the new release.

I am running QB online and when I try to run reports to show vendors and contractors the report comes back blank. In fact, any reports I run under the "Expense and Vendors" and "What you Owe" shows up blank.

Please help as I need to be able to run these reports as well as run the 1099 reports.

We'll have to ensure the Report period is correct so the vendor transactions will show. 

 

If the date is correct, though. The unexpected behavior can be caused by some browser hiccups. Let's perform a few steps to fix it. We'll start with logging into your account through a private browser. It's the best place to identify web issues. These are the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N 
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're able to run the reports, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache to refresh the system. It's advisable to delete them periodically to avoid issues like this.

 

Also, you can use a different web browser to narrow down the issue.

 

You can customize the report to help you focus on the details that matter to you.

@Mandy13  Even if you don't want to file the forms, you have to go through most of the process in the wizard to get to the screen where you can access the reports.  I believe in addition to this, you do have to have the most current QB update.

Even if you're not filing, you have to go through most of the steps in the wizard to get to the screen where you can view the reports.  **You have to have your accounts mapped correctly before this will work.  With the update that came, it defaulted all accounts to "Omit these payments from 1099).  

 

1. make sure you have the most current QB update

2. map your accounts (done through the wizard)

3. then you can go through wizard to get your detail or summary report.

Thanks. I usually run QB on Chrome and followed the directions to no avail. I also went ahead tried running the reports on my mac and the same thing happens, no information is on any report.

 

What other options are there?
