Note: Training descriptions on the Accountant University and in QuickBooks Online Accountant include prerequisite information.
What is CPE credit and Intuit’s NASBA sponsor number?
Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits are credits you earn for completing training. The number and type of credits earned vary by training.
State acceptance of CPE credits
Some states don't allow CPE credits for QuickBooks ProAdvisor training. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual trainings for CPE credit.
Note: Check your own state board of accountancy in terms of earning CPE credits with respect to any CPE training.
Intuit's NASBA sponsor number
Intuit's NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) sponsor number is 103311.
Note: This guarantees that Intuit’s self-study programs qualify for continuing education credit with the BOA (Board of Accountancy). You can use the sponsor number to confirm a provider's CPE sponsor status on the NASBA Registry website.
How do you train and maintain your certification?
QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification path for Accountants
You need to pass the QuickBooks Online Certification Level 1 first, and it’s best to wait at least 90 days before you take the QuickBooks Online Certification Level 2 training and exam.
Continuation of Advanced Certification prep training in on demand and virtual live events
We offer training to prepare you for your certification. These are available in webinar, virtual conference, and on demand.
You can sign up for webinars directly from the Training tab of the ProAdvisor page.
Moving forward, we'll make registration for virtual conference events available through the training tab in QuickBooks Online Accountant.
Reminders:
All training provided is optional. You can go directly to the certification exam if you choose.
If you don't pass after the 3rd attempt, you're locked out for 30 days. You need to wait 30 days and take the full exam again.
Note: Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) need to receive a base amount of CPE credits to maintain an active license and remain in good standing with the Board of Accountancy (BOA).
Check that certification is still valid
You can see your active certifications any time on the Team menu:
Sign in to QuickBooks Online Accountant.
Go to All Apps
, then ProAdvisor, then ProAdvisor training (Take me there).Select Start learning.
Go to the My History tab.
This shows all of your certifications and training history. You can also download all your certifications and CPE certificates from your history page.
How do you get recertified?
Recertification is available for QuickBooks Online Certification Level 1 (previously QuickBooks Online) and QuickBooks Online Certification Level 2 (previously QuickBooks Online Advanced) annually (every May and June).
Note: If you need to recertify for QuickBooks Online Certification Level 2, your exam will also recertify you for QuickBooks Online Certification Level 1. Once you’re Level 2, there’s not a way to recertify in only Level 1 (you must complete the Level 2 Recertification or you’ll be de-certified in both levels, which will also unpublish your ProAdvisor Profile and reduce your ProAdvisor Points).
QuickBooks Online Certification Level 2 takes priority over QuickBooks Online Certification Level 1. If you’re eligible for the QuickBooks Online Certification Level 1 recertification, you may take the QuickBooks Online Certification Level 2 instead.
Recertification eligibility
If you completed a certification before 11/01. then you must recertify in the following year.
If you completed a certification after 10/31, then you must recertify the year after next.
| Date certified | Recertification window |
| Certified October 2024 | May-June 2025 |
| Certified November 2024 | May-June 2026 |
| Level 1 Certified October 2024 and Level 2 Certified November 2024 | May-June 2026 |
You’ll have until June 30th at 11:59pm PDT to complete your recertification exam.
If you fail the Test-Out Exam three times, you must wait 10 calendar days for the exam to unlock. Alternatively, there are exams embedded within each learning course that will also grant your certification if passed – these learning course exams have an unlimited number of attempts.
Note: If your overall score is below 80%, you need to retake the entire exam (even if you already passed 2 out of the 3 sections).
Certification status after leaving your firm
The certification/s you pass are yours, not your firm's, but you must remain a QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program member to use the certification titles, logos, and distinctions.
How do you download and print your certificates and badges?
Download certification badges and guidelines for use
You should be able to access your badge on the My History tab within 60 minutes of passing your certification exam. For complete instructions, see Accessing your Certification History.
You can use your certification logos to promote your services in any way you like. For example, you could feature your badge on your website or business card.
Warning: You are not permitted to use logos or badges if you don't hold a certification in that product or course, or if your certification has expired.
Print ProAdvisor certificate

Provide feedback for exam questions and answers
We welcome feedback. You may send any suggestions, comments, or errors you see to qbproadvisor.com/feedback.
Be specific about the name of the course you are working on, the specific section and module, and the lesson, quiz, or exam.
Warning: While we review all feedback provided and respond to most of it, public discussion of the ProAdvisor Certification exam questions and answers are grounds for immediate termination of your certification. Intuit employees are restricted from providing answers to exam questions.
What do you do when there’s an error with loading the exam?
