Fix “my subscription payment failed” issues in QuickBooks Online
Find out what to do if you have issues updating your QuickBooks Online subscription.
If you receive a My subscription payment failed email message, it means we can't charge the billing account for your subscription. The card on file may be out of date, invalid, or the card issuer may have declined the payment.
All you need to do is update your billing info.
Step 1: Update your billing info
Sign in to QuickBooks Online as the Primary Admin or Company Admin.
Go to Settings
, then select Subscriptions and billing (Take me there).Select Edit ✎ for your Payment method.
Update your billing info.
Select Save.
Once you update your billing info, it may take up to 24 hours to activate your account.
If you still get an error, go to Step 2.
Step 2: Review your billing info
If you updated your billing info but still have issues, go back and edit your payment method again. Here are a few things to check:
Remove special characters and symbols (such as @, *, and #) from the billing address.
Fill in every field, including the ZIP code with the 4-digit extension.
Confirm the billing address matches the card or bank statement exactly.
Try a private or incognito window.
Try a different card, digital card, or virtual card.
Call the bank or card issuer to confirm Intuit and QuickBooks are authorized billing parties.
For PayPal, check with PayPal and the bank account linked to it.
Wait and retry in a few hours. Some declines are temporary system or connection issues on the bank's side.
