What's new with QuickBooks Online
See what’s new in QuickBooks Online. This article lists the improvements we’ve made to the workflows you use most, release by release. The newest release comes first.
Quality, accuracy, and reliability sit at the foundation of everything we build. You told us we had room to improve. So we’ve been working on two fronts at once. We’re adding new AI-powered capabilities that do more of the work for you. And we’re strengthening the core of QuickBooks Online, the parts you use every day. Here’s what’s changed.
Current Release
The August 2026 release adds Intuit Intelligence, expert support for keeping your books current, and a full reporting suite in QuickBooks Online Advanced. It also improves the everyday workflows you rely on most: banking, categorization, reports, sign-in, bill payments, and reconciliation.
Note: Release dates and availability vary by product and plan. Not every feature reaches every customer on the same day, and some features are available only on certain plans. Each item names its plans where availability is limited.
Intuit Intelligence
Intuit Intelligence connects to your QuickBooks Online data and does more of the routine work for you. You can ask it questions in plain language, and you can hand it tasks you’d rather not repeat.
Invoicing on autopilot. QuickBooks Online can scan your saved documents, like statements of work and sales orders, and draft invoices for you to review and send. You choose when overdue invoices get flagged, and QuickBooks Online lines up ready to send reminders. Available with QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced.
Custom automations you build yourself. Intuit Intelligence learns your patterns. When it spots a recurring task, such as pulling the same report every Monday, it offers to automate it. You can also build your own automation or start from a template, like sending overdue reminders or flagging duplicate bills. Tell Intuit Intelligence chat what you want done, then set a schedule.
Conversational business intelligence. Ask a question the way you’d say it out loud, such as “What was my cash flow last month?” or “How do my expenses compare to this time last year?” You get a read on what’s happening, what’s shifting, and why.
Forecasting and what-if scenarios. Model a price change, a new hire, or a new recurring expense, and see the effect on your cash flow, revenue, and net income before you commit.
One thread for Ask your accountant. Questions to your accountant stay together in a single conversation, so nothing gets lost across separate messages.
Note: Intuit Intelligence and conversational business intelligence are beta releases, and features, availability, and capacity can change. Intuit Intelligence chat is available to admin users only at this time. Capacity is limited. Each account gets a set amount of capacity each month, and the amount varies by plan. Invoicing on autopilot is also subject to monthly usage limits.
Cleaner books with expert support
Keeping your books current used to mean a scramble at month-end. These services keep categorization and review happening throughout the month, with a human expert involved, so your numbers are ready when you need them.
Books Check-In: You get an annual call with an expert to review the state of your books. AI flags issues ahead of the call, so your expert spends the time on what matters. You leave with a clear summary and next steps. Available with QuickBooks Online Essentialsand Plus.
Smart Expert Categorization: Accounting AI learns your business’s financial picture and categorizes transactions for you, with a human reviewing in the background for accuracy. Your books stay up to date without the manual data entry. Available with QuickBooks Online Plus.
Books Upkeep: Transactions are categorized and posted continuously, with quality reviews to keep them accurate. Intuit Intelligence handles high-confidence transactions under the policies you set. It surfaces only the exceptions that need your input. Any work it posts is clearly labeled, and issues are flagged before month-end. Available with QuickBooks Online Advanced.
Note: If you work with an accountant or bookkeeper, check with them before you turn these services on. They know your books, and they can help you decide how this fits the work you already do together. If your accounting firm is billed for your subscription, coordinate with them to enable these features. For QuickBooks Online Advanced, Books Upkeep is off by default when you’re connected to an accountant.
New in QuickBooks Online Advanced
QuickBooks Online Advanced picks up a full reporting and business intelligence suite this release, plus an accounts payable hub that used to cost extra.
Management reports: Turn your numbers into a presentation-ready package. Financials, charts, and KPIs combine with AI-drafted commentary into one report you can hand to your team, your accountant, or your board. Report templates pull in live data each cycle, so you set up the formatting once instead of rebuilding it.
A custom report builder: Build the exact report you need from scratch. Choose your columns, rows, filters, and dimensions, and pull from any data in your books by class, location, or department, without being held to a standard template.
Industry-specific financials and reports: Construction financials and enhanced project financials are built into QuickBooks Online Advanced. Both cover job and project costing, budget-versus-actuals tracking, change orders, milestone invoicing, and profitability reports in one connected workflow.
Self-serve analytics with KPI scorecards: Track revenue, margin, cash, and more in a scorecard that stays current as your books update. You can filter by class and drill down to the source report. Pull metrics from a pre-built library, build your own with a formula, or track specific accounts.
AI-powered forecasting: Test a scenario in plain language. Ask what’s driving a variance, model a hiring decision, or forecast cash flow through the next quarter, without exporting your data to another tool.
Bill Pay Elite, included: Bill Pay Elite is now included with QuickBooks Online Advancedat no additional subscription fee. It gives you an accounts payable hub inside QuickBooks Online Advanced, so you can record, approve, and pay bills, manage 1099s, and track costs by job in one place. Role-based controls let you set who can create, approve, and release payments, and paid bills reconcile against your QuickBooks Online data automatically. Standard ACH payments and 1099 e-filing are included. See the disclaimers for eligibility, user counts, and fee details.
Here's a look at our progress so far:
Smarter, more accurate matching
Match suggestions are ranked by confidence. QuickBooks Online shows you which suggested matches are high in confidence. The most likely match comes first, so you’re not scanning a list.
Duplicate warnings appear before you post. You can stop a double entry while there’s still time to fix it.
Categorization
Suggestions refresh faster after you categorize a similar transaction. This helps most when you’re working through a batch in one sitting.
Transfers and credit card payments are handled more clearly. This cuts down on the double-counting and misclassification that tends to show up at month-end.
A modernized rules experience. Bank rules now flag duplicate or conflicting rules instead of applying whichever one fires first, so you can see the overlap and fix it.
Reports
We made more than 50 usability improvements to the new Reports experience, based on feedback from customers and accountants. These changes bring it in line with the classic experience.
Everything’s readable and in order. Accounts appear in standard order, section names and totals display in full, and columns stay visible as you scroll.
Find and filter the way you expect. Search with Ctrl + F, pick the date range you need, and sort columns the way you’d expect.
Exports come out clean. Trial Balance and consolidated reports keep their totals when you export them to Excel.
Sign-in and account access
You told us you ran into sign-in problems, got signed out too often, and found re-verification slow. These changes address that.
Fewer “account not found” errors.
You stay signed in longer on devices you trust. You’re not re-verifying every time you step away.
Note: Account recovery hasn’t changed yet. To verify your identity when you update your account, you’ll still take these steps: Tell us what you’re updating. Use your mobile phone to take a picture of your government-issued ID. We’ll match that data to your personal information.
Paying Bills
Payments no longer default to check. The default now reflects how bills are paid.
Paying bills takes fewer steps. You asked for a cleaner bill payment flow, so we simplified the navigation.
Homepage
Homepage loads faster with less layout shift.
Homepage is cleaner and more personalized.
Widgets are resizable and reorderable, including your bank account widgets.
Faster Workflows
Your data loads faster and more reliably across the workflows you use most, including invoicing, banking, reports, and payroll.
Expanded keyboard shortcuts
There are now more than 100 shortcuts. They span banking, lists, transaction forms, and reports, and they work consistently across pages, so there’s nothing to relearn.
You can open the full shortcut guide anytime. Press Ctrl + Alt + ? on a PC or Cmd + Option + ? on a Mac.
The guide is printable and updated regularly.
Reconciliation
Guardrails protect your reconciled books. Editing or deleting a previously reconciled transaction now triggers a warning before it throws off a beginning balance.
Any primary admin can undo a reconciliation. You no longer need the accountant role to correct one.
Vendor management
Vendors, contractors, and customers are easier to tell apart. Classification is clearer throughout.
The vendor list is easier to find. Vendor details stay consistent when you update a bill from review.
Bank Feeds
You get a heads-up before a connection needs re-authorizing. You can reconnect on your own schedule instead of discovering days later that transactions stopped flowing.

Platform navigation & usability
Shortcuts at your fingertips: QuickBooks Online now supports 50+ keyboard shortcuts to help you work with fewer clicks and less switching between your mouse and keyboard. Shortcuts span Banking, Lists, Transaction Forms, and Reports — and work consistently across pages so there's no relearning as you navigate. To pull up the full shortcut guide at any time, simply press Ctrl + Alt + ? (PC) or Cmd + Option + ? (Mac). The guide is updated regularly, so check back as new shortcuts continue to be added.
Invoicing & sales forms
Display contact details: You can now display your customer's phone number and email address directly on invoices, estimates, and other sales forms. Customize your forms to include the contact details that matter most to your business — making it easier to communicate clearly and keep everything your team needs in one place.
Vendors & payments
Clearer vendor remittance: Remittance Advice now clearly lists every open bill covered by a payment, so your vendors have a clear view of exactly what's been paid. This gives vendors the detail they need to apply payments accurately, reducing the need for follow-up calls and back-and-forth.
Improved filtering & sorting: The Pay Bills page now includes advanced filtering and sorting options — search by invoice date, vendor name, and more—and your filters stay in place even after a refresh. Finding and prioritizing what needs to be paid is now more efficient and intuitive, especially when managing a high volume of bills.
Inventory & purchase orders
Streamlined order fulfillment: You can now create a Purchase Order directly from a Sales Order in a single step — simply click "Convert to purchase order" at the bottom right of the Sales Order page. This makes it easier to track inventory commitments, fulfill customer orders accurately, and keep your purchasing and sales workflows connected from start to finish.
Reporting
Reports your way: Export reports that reflect what you see on screen. Simply select the caret icon next to any account or subaccount to expand or collapse it before exporting, so your stakeholders receive a polished, focused report—with the level of detail you want them to see.

From invoices and expenses to bills and journal entries, we've got you covered.
Enhanced shipping address management: You can now store multiple shipping or delivery addresses within a single customer profile. By eliminating time-consuming manual workarounds, this enhanced feature streamlines your workflow, saving time and improving overall efficiency.

Refreshed "modern view" reporting: The new "modern view" of reports in QuickBooks Online combines the familiarity of "classic view" with the intelligence and power of "modern view" — helping you work faster, smarter, and with more confidence. With improved navigation, auto-refresh features, and enhanced drill-downs, you can save time, reduce errors, and gain reliable financial clarity, all while enjoying a cleaner, clutter-free experience.
Improvements to report navigation: We've optimized your scrolling experience on reports to utilize the available space more efficiently, especially for large or detailed reports. Now you can navigate reports smoothly and efficiently, focusing on your data with a more natural, intuitive experience.

You can pin as many apps as you want to tailor your workspace.

Our search bar helps you navigate faster -- just type a keyword, and we’ll guide you to what you need.
Accounting
You can now convert PDF bank statements into transactions that are ready to be posted through the bank feed, eliminating manual data entry and ensuring all your transactions are captured in one place. This feature is ideal for customers who haven’t linked their bank directly to QuickBooks or for those looking to upload historical statement with ease.
Usability Improvements:
To make scanning your banking data even easier, we’ve introduced features like column freezing, zebra-striping for improved row distinction, green color indicators for matching transactions, and text wrapping for key details.
If you’re using the new AI-powered bank feed, you can now view up to 300 transactions per page (up from 50) without slowing down your experience. This increases efficiency, especially for customers who frequently analyze or review large volumes of transactions.

Wondering about a cleared check? With QuickBooks Bill Pay, you can now view and download cleared check images, confirming payments and tracking transactions with ease.
Project Mangement
QuickBooks Online Plus and QuickBooks Online Advanced customers can now see allocations by project in the Project Center to improve budget tracking and financial visibility for more complex projects.
Inventory
Moving Average Cost (MAC) inventory valuation method is now available to customers using Plus, Advanced or the Inventory Add-on. MAC simplifies inventory accounting by smoothing out cost fluctuations and reflecting current market prices for your inventory.
Sales Orders now offer greater flexibility and improved tracking for items promised to your customers. Enhancements include: custom fields, smarter search functionality, attachment options, ability to delete, bundles support, and Sales Order to PO conversion.
Payroll
We’ve teamed up with Clair so you can now offer your employees access to a portion of their earned wages before payday at no cost to you1. Help your team manage unexpected expenses and financial gaps —employees can choose a 1-3 day transfer for free or pay a flat fee for an instant transfer².
