Learn how to change your QuickBooks File Manager Password Vault password.

The password vault stores the usernames and passwords of your clients’ company files in a secure environment. Change your password vault password every 90 days to maintain security.

Change your Password Vault password

Log in to QuickBooks File Manager.
Select the Password Vault ▼ dropdown.
Select Change Password Vault Login.
Enter the required info.
Select OK.

Note: If you see the message: “Your password has expired. To access the Password Vault, you must create a new password.” and can’t change your vault password, update your QuickBooks File Manager to the latest version. Then, try to change your password again.

Download the QuickBooks File Manager which corresponds to your QuickBooks version.
Open the downloaded file.
Important: Close your QuickBooks and QuickBooks File Manager before you install.
Complete the installation.
