Connect QuickBooks Online to ChatGPT

To connect QuickBooks Online to ChatGPT, open Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar, search for Intuit QuickBooks, and select Connect Intuit QuickBooks.

The Intuit QuickBooks plugin in ChatGPT (also called the QuickBooks app or connector) connects your QuickBooks Online account to ChatGPT, so you can ask about invoices, payroll, and more without switching apps. This article walks you through connecting the two accounts, confirming the connection works, and troubleshooting a failed connection.

Note: You need an active QuickBooks Online subscription and a ChatGPT account to connect the two. This feature is currently available to QuickBooks Online customers in the US.

What you'll need to connect QuickBooks Online to ChatGPT

Make sure you have:

  • An active QuickBooks Online account.

  • A ChatGPT account.

Connect QuickBooks Online to ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, select Plugins.

  2. Search for "Intuit QuickBooks," or go directly to the Intuit QuickBooks plugin page (chatgpt.com/plugins/quickbooks) — this link works whether or not you're already signed in to ChatGPT — then select Connect Intuit QuickBooks.

  3. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account, or create one if you don't have one yet. You return to ChatGPT automatically after signing in.

  4. From the Intuit QuickBooks plugin, select Start chat.

How to confirm QuickBooks is connected to ChatGPT

Ask a simple question about your QuickBooks Online account, such as:

  • "What's my company name in QuickBooks?"

  • "Show me my open invoices."

  • "What's my profit and loss for this year?"

  • "Who's on payroll?"

  • "How much did we pay an employee last week?"

If ChatGPT returns information from your account, the connection is working.

Troubleshoot a failed or disconnected connection

If the Intuit QuickBooks plugin can't connect to your QuickBooks Online account, or the connection stops working, try the following:

  • Disconnect and reconnect the Intuit QuickBooks plugin from ChatGPT's plugins list.

  • Confirm you're signed in to the QuickBooks Online company you want to connect.

  • Confirm your browser allows pop-ups and third-party cookies for chatgpt.com and quickbooks.intuit.com.

  • If you're still having trouble, contact QuickBooks Support for help with your connection.
