Request, cancel or view time off

Any team member can request time off, view the status of previous requests, and view their balances from QuickBooks Timeor from QuickBooks Workforce. 

Add or request time off

Your time off request will be in a pending status until your manager or an admin makes a decision. Once a decision is made, you will be notified by email and within QuickBooks Workforce.

Once time off requests have been entered, you can’t modify the request. To make changes, cancel your request and request a new one.

QuickBooks Workforce app

  1. In the Workforce app, select Time Off or More, then Time Off.
  2. Select Add + or Add time off QuickBooks Time mobile.
  3. Choose a time off type.
  4. Select Add Day to add an entry. The app adds an 8-hour entry for the current day.
  5. If you want to change the date and/or number of hours, select the entry, and make the adjustments.
  6. (Optional) Add a note.
  7. Select Save or Send Request.

QuickBooks Workforce web

  1. Go to Home.
  2. Select Add request.
  3. Choose the time off policy.
  4. Enter the days and hours you want to take.
  5. Select Submit.

QuickBooks Time web

  1. Go to Time Off, and select Add Time Off.
  2. Choose a code, date of entry, and number of hours on that day.
  3. (optional) Add another day for the same code.
  4. (optional) Add notes.
  5. Select Save or Send Request
    • If you selected Send Request, you can’t change your code type or make any other edits. You must cancel and recreate the request. 
    • You’ll get a notification when your admin approves or denies the request.

Cancel time off

You can cancel a request only if it’s pending and in the future.

Note: This will only be available if your admin has granted you the "Manage my timesheets" permission.

QuickBooks Workforce app

  1. In the Workforce app, select Time Off or More, then Time Off.
  2. Select the entry you want to remove.
  3. Select More More_QBTime_US_Ext_052223.png, then select Delete time off or Cancel Request.

  1. Go to Time off.
  2. Select the Actions icon next to the time off request.
  3. Select Cancel.

QuickBooks Time web

  1. Go to Time Off and select a time off entry.
  2. Select Cancel entry.
  3. (Optional) Enter the reason the entry is being canceled.

View time off balances

You can see past requests, approvals, denials, and adjustments to your time off balances.

  1. Select Overview.
  2. Go to the Time off section to view your balances.

QuickBooks Workforce web

  1. Go to Time off.
  2. Select View history.
  3. Adjust the time off type to see different histories (for example, vacation vs sick).

QuickBooks Time web

  1. Go to Time Off, and select View my balances.
  2. View predicted accruals by selecting a future date.
