With QuickBooks Online Advanced, you can create your own reports using Custom Report Builder.
In QuickBooks, you can customize your reports so you can focus on specific details in your financial reports. Here’s how to customize common custom reports that fit your specific needs:

See your transactions with customers or vendors
Run and add filters to Transaction List by Date report to see transactions with your customers or vendors.
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select Transaction List by Date.
In the Report period ▼ dropdown, select the date range.
In the Group by ▼ dropdown, select Customer, Vendor, or Employees.
Select Customize.
In the Filter ▼ dropdown, select the transaction that you want to see in the report.
Note: If you want to see specific customers or vendors, select their name in the Name ▼ dropdown.Select Run report.
Run an income and expense report for your customer or vendor
Run a Profit and Loss report to see income and expenses for your customers or vendors.
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select Profit and Loss.
Select Customize.
In the Columns ▼ dropdown, select Customers or Vendors.
Select Run report.
Filter report for a specific customers or vendors
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select the report that you want to open.
Select Customize.
In the Columns ▼ dropdown, select Customers or Vendors.
Select the Filter ▼ dropdown.
Select the Name ▼ dropdown, then select the name of the customer or vendor that you want to see in the report.
Select Run report.
Compare your budget and actual spend
Run Budget vs. Actual report to compare your budget and actual spend.
Note: If you haven’t, create your budget first.
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select Budget vs. Actuals.
Select Customize to add the needed filters.
Select Run report.
Compare different time periods for the same report
You can customize report columns to show different report periods.
In this example, let's compare different years on a Profit and Loss report. You can use these steps for other reports and time periods:
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select Profit and Loss.
Select Customize.
Select Rows/Columns ▼ dropdown.
In the Columns ▼ dropdown, select Years, Fiscal Years, or Calendar Years. You can also select days, weeks, or quarters to get other time periods.
Select the Previous year checkbox.
If you want to see your numbers as percentages of your account totals, select one of the % options.
Select Run report.
See items as a percentage of income
This lets you quickly see which products or services have the biggest impact on your business.
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select the report that you want to open.
Select Customize.
Select Rows/Columns ▼ dropdown.
Put a checkmark in the % of income checkbox.
Select Run report.
Show negative numbers in red in your reports
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select the report that you want to open.
Select Customize.
In the General ▼ dropdown, put a checkmark in the Show in red checkbox.
Select Run report.
Remove or change info in your report
Go to Reports
, then Standard reports (Take me there).In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, select the report that you want to open.
Select Customize.
Select the Header/Footer ▼ dropdown.
Remove the check in the checkbox of the info that you no longer want to include in the report.
Note: You can change the company name in the Company name field or remove it. You can also do the same for the report title.Select Run report.
