Minnesota (MN) e-service enrollment

Learn how to enroll in electronic services to pay and file Minnesota taxes in your payroll service.

In order for Intuit to file and pay your MN taxes electronically, you need to appoint Intuit as your agent, and assign the proper roles.

If you just registered for an account, you should receive your permanent User ID from MN by regular mail within a few days of registration - you can't authorize an agent or make a payment without your permanent User ID. If your letter hasn't arrived and you need full access to your account sooner than a few days, or if your account is not new, please call MN at 651 - 296 - 6141, option 4.

Appoint Intuit as your MN Unemployment E-File and E-Pay agent

You will receive an email for instructions on how to appoint Intuit as your new authorized agent. Follow the steps outlined in the email. For detailed instructions, see the steps below.

Important! See the Agent IDs for your payroll service:

  • QuickBooks Online Payroll and Intuit Online Payroll: AG004304
  • QuickBooks Assisted Payroll and QuickBooks Desktop Payroll: COMRE
  1. Log in to your Minnesota Unemployment Insurance account.
  2. On My Home Page, select Account Maintenance.
  3. Select Agent Authorization.
  4. First, you need to check if there is an agent assigned already. Do not enter an Agent Name, leave blank and select Search.
  5. If your previous payroll provider comes up, skip to the section Enter MN UI TPA End Date for a previous authorized agent at the bottom of this article.  Return tomorrow to complete steps 5-16. If no agent comes up, select New and enter the Agent ID:
    • QuickBooks Online Payroll and Intuit Online Payroll: AG004304
    • QuickBooks Assisted Payroll and QuickBooks Desktop Payroll: COMRE
  6. Select Next.
  7. Under Available Roles, select the following:
    • Tax Payment Update and Submit
    • Wage Detail Update and Submit
    • Account Maintenance Update and Submit
  8. Select Save.
  9. The next screen will show the roles assigned, but we are not done yet. The Reporting Unit Number column will show No reporting units assigned. It means that the access to the role is not granted. Select the Assign Employer Reporting Units hyperlink in the Modify column.
  10. In the Select Employer Reporting Units section, select the checkbox. This box will grant access to the role.
  11. Select Save and then Save again.
  12. This message will display at the top: “The assignment was processed successfully”. Which means you have successfully granted access to 1 role but there's 2 more roles left. Do this for each role.
  13. Go back to Agent Authorization in the Account Maintenance section of your account.
  14. Select Search.
  15. Select the agent name you entered in step 5:
    • QuickBooks Online Payroll and Intuit Online Payroll: PAYCYCLE, INC
    • QuickBooks Assisted Payroll and QuickBooks Desktop Payroll: COMPUTING RESOURCES INC
  16. The Reporting Unit Number of each role should show All reporting units assigned. If not, follow the steps 9-16 until all reporting units are assigned completely.

Once you have completely assigned us the TPA roles, notify us so that we can complete the enrollment and activate your E-File & Pay service.
