Fix error "Something's not quite right. Email address already in use.".

If you see a "Something's not quite right. Email address already in use." message when adding someone to your team, don't worry. This happens when you add a team member to your firm, but there's an existing user profile tied to that email address.

There are a few ways to fix this. Follow the path that makes the most sense for you and your team.

Solution 1: Reactivate their existing user profile

Since the email address is in use, it's likely your team member already has a user profile. Simply ask them to sign in to their account and check for the invite. If they can't sign in, ask them to follow the steps to recover their sign-in info.

Also, make sure your team member isn't marked as inactive for your firm. Sign in to QuickBooks Online Accountant and see if their profile is active. If their profile is inactive, they can't connect to your firm.

Solution 2: Send the invite to a different email address

If your team member has another email address, send the invite to it. This creates a new user profile with that email address.

Solution 3: Edit the existing user's email

In the rare case that another team member is already using the email address, you can make an edit. Sign in to QuickBooks Online Accountant and change their email address. This frees up the email address so you can resend the invite to your new team member.
