Accounting policy templates let your firm define how IIntuit Intelligence should categorize and manage client transactions, then apply those rules to multiple QuickBooks Online clients at once. This article covers how to create a template and apply it to your clients.

Note: Accounting policy templates are currently in beta and available only to firms on Intuit Accountant Suite (IAS)Accelerate.

Instead of setting up transaction rules client by client, you can build one policy for a type of client — for example, a dental practice — and push it to every client that fits. This keeps your firm's standard operating procedures consistent across clients and reduces manual cleanup.

Create an accounting policy template

Set up the specific rules that tell Intuit Intelligence exactly how to categorize and manage transactions for a type of client.

  1. Go to Firm hub, then select Policy templates.

  2. Select + Create.

  3. Enter a name and description for your template, for example, Dental practice policy.

  4. Define the rules and parameters for how Intuit Intelligence should handle transactions under this policy.

  5. Select Save.

Your template is saved to your firm's policy library and ready to apply to clients.

Apply a policy template to your clients

Once you save a template, apply it to multiple QuickBooks Onlinee clients at the same time instead of setting up each client individually.

  1. Go to Firm hub, then select Policy templates.

  2. Find the policy you want to use in your policy library.

  3. Select Apply.

  4. Select the specific clients you want to assign to this policy.

  5. Select Save.

Intuit Intelligence now follows this policy's rules when it categorizes and manages transactions for each client you added.

Troubleshooting accounting policy templates

Intuit Intelligence isn't following my firm's rules

Intuit Intelligence relies on the standard operating procedures defined in your firm's accounting policy templates. If an automation is handling a client's transactions incorrectly, check that client's profile to confirm you applied the correct policy template to their account.

I can't find the option to create policy templates

The ability to create and apply accounting policy templates in bulk is exclusive to Intuit Accountant Suite (IAS) Accelerate. If your firm is on Intuit Accountant Suite (IAS) Core, you won't see this option in your firm workspace. Check your subscription settings to confirm your current tier.
