How to add Intuit Experts Bookkeeping to your account
You can turn on Intuit Experts Bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online, even if you already work with an accountant. These services include Books check-in for QuickBooks Online Essentials, Smart Expert Categorization for QuickBooks Online Plus, and Expert Books Upkeep for QuickBooks Online Advanced. Who can turn a service on depends on how your subscription is billed.
Note: Make sure you have a connection to an accountant who uses QuickBooks Online Accountant or IIntuit Accountant Suite (IAS).
Step 1: Check with your accountant first
We recommend talking with your accountant before you turn on our Intuit Experts Bookkeeping service. That way, there's no overlap between what they already do for you and what QuickBooks sets up on your behalf.
Step 2: Learn who can turn on the Intuit Experts Bookkeeping service
What you can do depends on your billing type. Review your options before you start.
| Billing type | What you can do | What your accountant can do |
| Client-billed | Turn on the service from Settings. You'll first see a message asking you to check with your accountant. If you select Turn on anyway, QuickBooks lets your accountant know. | Any attached accountant can turn on the service for you. |
| Firm-billed | You can't turn on the service yourself. The switch is turned off, with a message to contact your accountant or accounting firm. | Only the billing accountant can turn on the service. |
Step 3: Turn on the Intuit Experts Bookkeeping service
When you're ready, here's how to turn on the Intuit Experts service:
Go to Settings, then select Accounting.
In the Intuit Experts services section, select Edit.
Turn on the Intuit Experts bookkeeping services switch.
Select Save.
If you have an accountant, you'll see a message asking you to check with them first. Select Turn on anyway to continue.
Go to Intuit Experts to schedule your appointment with an Intuit Expert and activate the service.
Once the service is turned on, the accountant(s) will have read-only access to the service progress through the Expert Hub.
| Note: • Because your subscription is billed through your accounting firm, your billing accountant can turn the service on for you. • Once a service is activated in Intuit Experts, it stays on and can’t be turned off from Settings. To stop the service, cancel your appointment or opt out of the service in Intuit Experts. • If you’re still having issues turning on Intuit Experts Bookkeeping service, contact Intuit customer support. |
