Use the audit log to re-enter deleted transactions in QuickBooks Online

Once a transaction is deleted in QuickBooks Online, it can't be restored. However, you can use the Audit log to find the details of the deleted transaction and re-enter it manually.

Find and re-enter deleted transaction details

Here is how to locate the details of a deleted transaction using the Audit log:

  • Go to Settings Settings gear icon..

  • Go to Tools, then select Audit log.

  • Select the appropriate user, date, and event(s) filter.

  • Locate the deleted transaction.

    • Tip: To easily find deleted transactions, use the browser search (Ctrl + F) and type "deleted."

  • Find the History column, then select View.

  • Find all the information for the transaction.

  • Recreate the transaction with its original transaction date using the information from the Audit log.

Note:
  • Audit log only works for transactions that were saved. There is no available report for deleted transactions. Consider voiding a transaction instead of deleting or completely removing it from your records.
