Generate custom financial reports and apply filters in seconds by chatting with Intuit Intelligence in QuickBooks Online.
Instead of digging through customization menus, tell Intuit Intelligence what you want to see and it builds the report for you. Keep the chat panel open afterward to add columns, change filters, or adjust the date range in plain language, without starting over.
You'll need:
QuickBooks Online Simple Start, QuickBooks Online Essentials, QuickBooks Online Plus, QuickBooks Online Advanced, or QuickBooks Solopreneur.
One of these user roles: Master Admin, Company Admin, Standard All-Access, or Reports-Only.
Note: This feature isn't available in Intuit Enterprise Suite or directly within the firm workspace of Intuit Accountant Suite (IAS). If you're an accountant, you can still use it after you toggle into a supported client's QuickBooks Onlineaccount.
Generate a new report
Skip the manual customization menus and describe the report you want.
Select Reports.
Select Ask a question BETA or the Intuit Intelligence icon to open the chat panel.
Type your report request. For example: Create an invoice report for last year or Show me expenses split by vendor.
Select Send.
Select View Report to open your report.
Include the report type, date range, and filters in your request to get the report you want on the first try. For example, ask "Create an expense report for last month filtered by the Marketing class" instead of "Show my expenses."
Customize and save your report
Keep the chat panel open to instantly add columns or adjust filters on the report you just generated.
Type your customization request into the open Intuit Intelligence chat. For example: Add a column for due dates or Filter for amounts greater than $500.
Select Send.
Select View Report to refresh your screen with the new columns or filters.
Note: You can't save a report using chat commands. To keep a customized report for future use, select Save customization on the report page.
Your report reflects the data, columns, and filters you asked for, and any customization you saved is available the next time you open Reports.
Note: • If you customize a report using the standard on-screen menus instead of the chat panel, Intuit Intelligence doesn't recognize those changes. If you then ask it to make an update, it works from the report's last known state before your manual edit, not your current view. Stick to chat prompts for a customization if you want Intuit Intelligence to track and build on it. • Intuit Intelligence can't currently generate payroll reports, such as a 941 report. If you ask for one, you'll see standard QuickBooks Online help content on the manual payroll reporting workflow instead of a generated report.
