Create custom reports with Intuit Intelligence

Summary: Generate and customize financial reports in seconds by chatting with Intuit Intelligence, instead of building them manually through report menus.

Skip the manual customization menus and tell Intuit Intelligence exactly what data you want to see. You can generate a report, then keep the conversation open to refine it with follow-up requests.

Prerequisites

  • QuickBooks Online Simple Start, QuickBooks Online Essentials, QuickBooks Online Plus, QuickBooks Online Advanced, or QuickBooks Solopreneur.

  • One of the following user roles: Master admin, Company admin, Standard all-access, or Reports-only.

Note

This feature isn't available for Intuit Enterprise Suite, or directly within the firm workspace of Intuit Accountant Suite. Accountants can still use it after they've switched into a supported client's QuickBooks Online account.

Generate a new report

  1. Select Reports.

  2. Select Ask a question or select the Intuit Intelligence icon to open the chat panel.

  3. Type your request. For example, "Create an invoice report for last year" or "Show me expenses split by vendor."

  4. Select Send.

  5. Select View report beneath the response to open the generated report.

Customize and save your report

Keep the chat panel open to add columns or adjust filters on the report you just generated.

  1. Type your customization request into the open Intuit Intelligence chat. For example, "Add a column for due dates" or "Filter for amounts greater than $500."

  2. Select Send.

  3. Select View report to refresh the screen and apply the new filters.

  4. QuickBooks Online Advanced only: Select Save customization on the report page to keep the report for future use.

Note

You can't save a report using a chat command. If you use Simple Start, Essentials, or Plus, you can view and export a generated report, but you need QuickBooks Online Advanced to save it as a custom report.

Why doesn't Intuit Intelligence recognize my manual changes?

If you customize a report using the standard menus on the screen, Intuit Intelligence doesn't know what you changed. If you then ask it to make an update, it generates the report based only on its last known state. Use the chat for all your edits if you want Intuit Intelligence to track and build on your customizations.

Why can't I generate payroll or tax reports?

Intuit Intelligence can't currently generate payroll reports, such as a 941 report. If you ask for one, it directs you to the standard help articles for the manual payroll reporting workflow.
