Create estimates in the mobile app

Learn how to create estimates in the QuickBooks mobile app.

Close deals faster when you create estimates for your customers using the QuickBooks mobile app anytime you need to. Here's how.

Note: If you haven’t yet, download the QuickBooks mobile app for iOS or Android before you continue. Otherwise, proceed to the next steps based on which mobile operating system you use:

Create an estimate

Here's how you can create an estimate manually.

For iOS

  • Open the QuickBooks mobile app.

  • Tap +, then tap A mobile phone with numbers and numbers on it. Estimate.

  • Tap + Add customer, then find and tap the customer you want to send the estimate to.

  • Tap + Add product or service, then find and tap the product or service you want to create an estimate for. Then, tap Add.
    Tip: You can also tap + Add another product or service if you need to add more.

  • (Optional) Tap + next to attachments, message, or any other details you want to add to the estimate.
    Tip: You can also tap More for more actions you can take, like convert your estimate to an invoice.

  • Tap Review and send. This takes you to the Preview and send page.

  • Tap Send via email. Review and edit the body of the email as needed.
    Note: Tap A computerized image of a green and black scissors. Preview if you want to make changes to your estimate’s appearance. Just tap Customize icon.. You can also edit your company info when you tap A black and white image of a public bathroom..

  • Tap Close to go back to the Preview and send page, then tap Send.

For Android

  • Open the QuickBooks mobile app.

  • Tap +, then tap A mobile phone with numbers and numbers on it. Estimate.

  • Tap + Add customer, then find and tap the customer you want to send the estimate to.

  • Tap + Add product or service, then find and tap the product or service you want to create an estimate for. Then, tap Add.
    Tip: You can also tap + Add another product or service if you need to add more.

  • (Optional) Tap + next to attachments, message, or any other details you want to add to the estimate.
    Tip: You can also tap More for more actions you can take, like convert your estimate to an invoice.

  • Tap Review and send. This takes you to the Preview and send page.

  • Tap Download to review and save a copy of the estimate on your device. You can also tap Share if you want other sharing options.

  • Tap Send via email. Review and edit the body of the email as needed. You can also tap Estimate preview to view and download a PDF copy of your estimate.

  • Tap Send to send the estimate.

Use Intuit AI to create an estimate

Here's how you can use Intuit AI to create an estimate.

Note: This feature is only available if you have QuickBooks Online Advanced.

  • Open the QuickBooks mobile app.

  • Tap +, then tap A mobile phone with numbers and numbers on it. Estimate. Then, tap Autofill.

  • Tap Image of the camera icon. Image if you want to use an image or Image Alt Text Voice to add details to the estimate:

    • Image: This opens your camera. You can either take a photo of the estimate or upload it from your device’s gallery when you tap A black and white photo of a digital clock. Gallery.

      • Take a photo of the estimate:

        • Make sure you keep the entire document in the frame.
          Note: The app automatically takes a photo of the estimate. You can also take a photo of it manually when you tap the capture button.

        • (Optional) Tap Image of the camera icon. if you need to retake the photo, redo icon to rotate it, or Image Alt Text to crop it.

        • Tap Use this photo. This uploads the estimate.

      • Upload a photo of the estimate:

        • Tap A black and white photo of a digital clock. Gallery.

        • Find and tap the photo of your estimate.

        • Tap and drag the corners of the frame to crop the photo. Make sure all details of the estimate are included.

        • Tap Crop, then tap Use this photo. This uploads the estimate.

    • Voice: Tap Image Alt Text Voice to start recording the details you want to add to the estimate.

  • Review the generated details. Tap Add recommended to add a new customer or tap Select existing customer. Then, tap Continue.

  • Review the generated details. Tap Add recommended to add a new product or tap Select existing product. Then, tap Continue.
    Tip: You can also tap + Add another product or service if you need to add more.

  • (Optional) Tap + next to attachments, message, or any other details you want to add to the estimate.
    Tip: You can also tap More for more actions you can take, like convert your estimate to an invoice.

  • Tap Review and send. This takes you to the Preview and send page.

  • Tap Send via email, review the details and edit as needed. Then, tap Send.

  • Open the QuickBooks mobile app.

  • Tap +, then tap A mobile phone with numbers and numbers on it. Estimate. Then, tap Autofill.

  • Tap Image of the camera icon. Image if you want to use an image or Image Alt Text Voice to add details to the estimate:

        • Make sure you keep the entire document in the frame.
          Note: You can tap Auto capture to scan a photo of the estimate. You can also manually take a photo of it when you tap Manual.

        • (Optional) Tap Discard scan if you need to retake the photo. If you need to make changes, tap Magic wand icon. Filters or A computer keyboard with a picture of a person holding a toothbrush. Crop and rotate.

        • Tap Next. This uploads the estimate.

      • Upload a photo of the estimate:

        • Tap A black and white photo of a digital clock. Gallery.

        • Find and tap the photo of the estimate you want to upload.

        • (Optional) Tap Discard scan if you need to retake the photo. If you need to make changes, tap Magic wand icon. Filters or A computer keyboard with a picture of a person holding a toothbrush. Crop and rotate.

        • Tap Next. This uploads the estimate.
