Schedule HR workflows and performance reviews in QuickBooks Online Payroll Premium and Elite

If you have created templates for HR workflows or performance reviews, you can schedule them to start automatically in QuickBooks Online Payroll Premium and Elite. Automating your HR tasks helps make sure that performance reviews and workflows start on time without needing to be done manually. 

Important considerations for automation

Before you set up a schedule, keep the following logic in mind:

  • Required fields: If your template includes a Start form with required fields, the automated schedule will bypass those requirements and leave the fields blank.

Set up or update a schedule

  1. Open the template you want to automate.
    • HR workflows: Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Team, then HR workflows (Take me there).
    • Performance reviews: Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Team, then Performance (Take me there).
  2. Select the Set up tab and the Schedule (optional) section.
  3. Select + Add schedule or select Edit to update an existing one.
  4. Choose who the schedule applies to:
    • All active team members - Starts the process for everyone
    • Specific team members - Targets only a defined group of people.
  5. Set the timing and frequency:
    • Frequency: Choose an interval such as Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, or Work anniversary.
    • Start date: Select the date (and time, if available) for the automation to begin.
  6. Select Save.
