Start a performance review in QuickBooks Online Payroll Elite

You can launch a performance review for any team member once you’ve set up a review template. When you start a review, it will trigger the tasks and notifications you’ve included in that template.

What you'll need

  • A completed review template. If you haven't built one yet, create your template before continuing.
  • The names of the team members you want to include in this review cycle.

Start a performance review

  1. Open the Performance section:
    • QuickBooks Online: Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Team, then Performance (Take me there).
    • In QuickBooks Workforce, select Performance.
  2. Select Start on the template you want to use
  3. Choose the team members you want to include in this review cycle. 
  4. Complete any required fields for the review's start form.
    • Important: Any information you enter here will apply to all selected team members.
  5. Select Start review to send the reviews.

Note: Starting a review manually begins the process immediately. If you want to automate this process for the future, see: Schedule templates to start automatically.

Results

After you select Start review, task owners receive notifications in their accounts and by email to complete their assigned tasks. The review cycle is now active.

Track progress

Once a review is started, task owners will receive notifications in their accounts and via email to complete their assigned tasks.

Next steps

After the review is underway, monitor its progress from the Activity dashboard:

  • Monitor status: View the Activity dashboard to see all reviews that are In Progress.
  • View details: Hover over the progress bar to see who the task is assigned to and the current status of that task.
