Add and manage custom close statuses

In this video, you'll see how to manage close assignees and custom statuses using Books Close preferences.
Use custom statuses to define and track close progress in Intuit Accountant Suite using terminology that matches your firm’s internal workflow. This article explains how to create a custom status and how to edit or delete a status definition for your firm’s close process.
Prerequistes
To add or manage custom statuses, your firm must have added Books Close to Intuit Accountant Suite Core or Accelerate.
Add a custom status
Your firm’s workflow can contain up to 20 total statuses, including the defaults To do and Completed.
Go to All Apps
, then Books Close, then Overview (Take me there).
- From Intuit Accountant Suite, hover over Work to select Books close, and then select Books close settings.
- Select Preferences. Scroll to Close status and select
to edit. - Select Add new.
- Enter the new custom status name and select Save on the same line.
- If necessary, select
on the edge of the new status line and drag the status to the proper position in the workflow. Note that To do and Completed can’t be moved.
- Select Save when you’re finished.
Once saved, you’ll see your custom status whenever you set or update close statuses. It will be available for all future closes.
Manage custom statuses
Once you create a custom status in your workflow, you can change its name, delete it, or change the order of the statuses in your workflow.
Go to All Apps
, then Books Close, then Overview (Take me there).
- From Intuit Accountant Suite, hover over Work to select Books close, and then select Books close settings.
- Select Preferences. Scroll to Close status and select
to edit. - Make any of the following changes:
- Select Add status to create a new custom status.
- Select an existing status name and enter text to rename the status. Note that To do and Completed can’t be renamed.
- Select
at the edge of a status field and drag it to its proper position in the workflow. Note that To do and Completed can’t be moved.
- To delete a status, select the
next to its name. Note that To do and Completed can’t be deleted.
- When you’re finished, select Save to apply your changes.
Next steps
Once saved, you’ll see your custom statuses whenever you set or update close statuses. The updates will be available for all future closes.
