What’s workers’ comp insurance?

Workers’ comp insurance protects you in case one of your employees is injured on the job. If an accident happens, workers’ comp covers medical bills. Plus it can cover lost wages and legal expenses. You’re also protected from lawsuits from employees who are injured while working.

What’s Pay As You Go?

Once you’re set up with AP Intego, each time you run payroll, your payroll data is automatically sent to your insurance provider through Pay As You Go. This service is integrated into QuickBooks Online Payroll. It helps automate workers’ comp premiums so you never miss a deadline.

How much does Pay As You Go cost?

With Pay As You Go, AP Intego calculates the exact premium costs for your workers’ compensation policy based on your actual payroll data. AP Intego then withdraws the amount from your bank account and sends it directly to your insurance company. Unlike traditional workers’ comp policies, there’s no large premium due up front, and you avoid late fees, saving you time and money.

Note that there’s a $5 monthly service fee for Pay As You Go (in addition to your regular monthly payroll service fees). But the fee is waived if you’re an Assisted Payroll or Full Service Payroll customer.

How do I set up or manage workers’ comp in QuickBooks?

Working with AP Intego is the simplest way to manage workers comp in QuickBooks. Just sign in to QuickBooks Online and go to the Payroll menu, then select Workers’ Comp. Depending on where you are in the process, you can start a quote or manage your settings from here.
