Video transcript
[0:00] Needs Attention is your central place to track all the tasks that need your action in QuickBooks Online, and the work QuickBooks already handled for you. This video will show you where to access it, and how to use it. Start on your QuickBooks homepage. Near the top, you'll find the Needs attention widget.
[0:17] This is the main list of the work that stalls without you, like approvals, reviews, and things that need your input. These can include reminders, automations, critical alerts, and tasks you've created. You can act right from the widget. Each task has a link next to it, which you can select to open that workflow. Next to View All is a number which shows the total number of open tasks.
[0:39] To see all of your tasks, select View All. This opens the full Needs Attention page. Each row tells you what you need to know at a glance. You'll see the task, its status, the due date, and who it's assigned to. Use filters to narrow the list. Select any row to open the Task Detail panel, where you can see more information about that task, or begin working on it directly from the link.
[1:02] If any open work isn't yet reflected in your list, you can use Add Task to create your own to-do. You don't have to go back to the homepage to reference your list. Select the clipboard icon in the top navigation bar. A companion panel opens alongside whatever you're working on, so you can check your tasks from anywhere in QuickBooks.
[1:22] You can get back to the Needs Attention page from the companion panel by clicking View All. Over time, more of your work will show up here. Now you know all 3 ways to track and update tasks: the homepage widget, the needs attention page, and the companion panel. Start using Needs Attention as you work to keep track of everything you and QuickBooks get done together.
Learn about the Needs Attention experience
The Needs Attention experience serves as your central command center for what you need to do next.
Needs Attention: A prioritized list of items that require your action. This includes overdue invoices, unreviewed transactions, and specific questions or action items assigned to you. Each item has a clear call to action (for example, Review the estimate or Approve payroll).
Access your tasks
You can access the Needs Attention experience throughout QuickBooks:
Homepage widget: When you log in, a widget on your dashboard shows a real-time count of what needs action. This widget shows your top 4 highest-priority items.
Dedicated page: Select View all from the homepage widget to open the full-screen page, where you can sort and filter your complete list of tasks.
Tasks icon: Select the Tasks icon in the top navigation bar to open the Needs Attention panel from anywhere in QuickBooks.
Overview pages: On some overview pages, such as the Customer Hub, a version of the widget shows the Needs Attention and Done for you items related to that area.
How do I access this on my phone?
If you use the QuickBooks mobile app, your tasks will appear on your mobile homepage.
The QuickBooks mobile app experience surfaces a bit less "work done for you," but you can view all items on your mobile browser.
