As the country rings in National Small-Business Week, it’s a great time to be a small-business owner.
In 1963 President John Kennedy issued a proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small-Business Week. This tradition has been carried on ever since.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses create 2/3rds of new jobs in the United States every year; According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 90% of U.S. businesses have less than 20 workers.
Whether you’ve just opened your doors or you’ve been a neighborhood mainstay for years, you should feel proud to be creating jobs and driving innovation.
To all the small-business owners out there: We tip our hats to you.

Around the country, all kinds of events are unfolding, from conferences and award ceremonies to Twitter chats and hackathons, in honor of entrepreneurs and small-business owners.
