About this jobs report: Data & methodology
The Intuit QuickBooks Small Business Jobs Report is a monthly series powered by the Intuit QuickBooks Small Business Index.
Unlike the standard monthly jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which often lags or focuses on larger firms, our Index uses anonymized data from nearly 475,000 QuickBooks customers. This allows us to provide a high-frequency, "bottom-up" view of the economy, focusing specifically on businesses with one to nine employees. Visit the methodology page for more information.
- Focus: Small businesses with 1-9 employees.
- Accuracy: Calibrated against official Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data.
- Frequency: Refreshed on the first week of every month.
