QuickBooks Online August pricing changes and product updates

At Intuit, your feedback is at the heart of everything we build. You’ve told us where QuickBooks can work better, and we’ve been listening. This product release tackles some of the biggest pain points in our core workflows that you've shared, from improving speed and reliability to making everyday tasks simpler.

We’ve made QuickBooks faster, more reliable, and easier to use, while also introducing new AI-powered capabilities with Intuit Intelligence that automate routine tasks, keep your books up to date, improve cash flow, surface important insights about your business's health, and help you make more confident decisions, so you can focus on what matters most. These updates are part of our ongoing investment in your growth, ensuring you have the right tools to manage your finances with confidence.

To support these new capabilities, the monthly subscription prices for QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced will change for renewals on or after August 1, 2026. Pricing for QuickBooks Free, Lite, Ledger, and Simple Start remains unchanged. 

What’s new in QuickBooks this August

To help you evolve how you manage your business with our unified platform that acts as your system of intelligence. By combining the scale and speed of Intuit Intelligence with your accountant’s expertise, we’re helping you automate routine work, gain deeper insights, and focus on what truly drives your growth. 

We’ve also addressed critical workflows to save you time and allow you to work more efficiently. Also, we’re introducing new capabilities powered by Intuit Intelligence to automate the costly, routine work that eats up the day, to keep books up-to-date, surface insights, and answer important questions.

Core workflow improvements

Enhanced bank feeds

We’ve redesigned the Bank Feed to be more consistent and predictable. With new AI-powered tools, QuickBooks now handles the heavy lifting of your daily finances. Batch controls and inline editing ensure that categorization and matching work the way you expect every time. (Available in all QuickBooks plans) 

Intelligent Onboarding

Your business is unique, and your setup should be too. We’ve redesigned onboarding to be a hybrid of intelligent technology and human guidance. Intuit AI and product experts now work together to personalize your setup, so you can leverage the full power of the platform—from accounting to payments to workforce solutions from day one. It’s about getting you up and running with confidence, so you can spend less time on setup and more time on the work that matters. (Available in all plans)

Auto Categorization

Manual data entry is the enemy of efficiency. Our Accounting AI learns your business’s financial picture and handles auto-categorization for you. This creates a foundation of accuracy that gives you the peace of mind to make decisions with confidence, knowing your books are consistently up-to-date and reliable, and human-validated for accuracy in the background. (Available in QuickBooks Plus and Advanced) 

Invoicing on Autopilot (beta) 

Get paid faster, automatically. With Invoicing on Autopilot, stop spending your evenings chasing down late payments or manually creating invoices. Intuit Intelligence can help draft invoices for quick review through simple, easy-to-use chat, and send prioritized payment reminders for anything unpaid on your approval.

QuickBooks can now scan your saved documents (like SOWs or sales orders) to draft invoices for you to review and send. Even better, you can set custom rules for payment reminders, and QuickBooks will automatically follow up on unpaid invoices, improving cash flow without the back-and-forth. Please note that Invoicing on Autopilot is currently in beta and subject to monthly usage capacity limits as we continue to improve the feature. (Available in QuickBooks Essentials, Plus, and Advanced)

Business Intelligence at your fingertips

Turn financial data into actionable business insights.

Conversational Business Intelligence

You can now use Intuit Intelligence to ask plain-language questions about your business—like, 'What was my cash flow last month?' or 'How do my expenses compare to this time last year?' You get a clear understanding of what’s happening now and what’s likely to happen next, helping you plan for the future without needing to be a math expert. Conversational Business Intelligence lets you ask questions, get instant business insights, run scenario comparisons, and plan next steps directly with Intuit Intelligence. (Limited inquiries available each month, depending on your QuickBooks plan.)

KPIs and Dashboards

You can now monitor key financial metrics across the KPI scorecard and pre-built dashboards for cash flow, P&L, and balance sheet health, giving a clearer picture of your business. (Now available in QuickBooks Essentials and Plus, already available in QuickBooks Advanced)

QuickBooks Advanced: The all-in-one solution for growing businesses

Growth-minded businesses on our most powerful QuickBooks offering now have an all-in-one financial solution that allows them to scale their operations while keeping teams lean and overhead costs low. While point solutions solve pieces, Advanced brings it all together. QuickBooks Advanced now has Bill Pay, a reporting and analytics suite, and embedded industry solutions across construction and professional services.

Bill Pay Elite: Automated accounts payable without extra subscription fees 

Bill Pay Elite will now be included within QuickBooks Advanced with no additional subscription cost.** Bill Pay Elite lets you pay vendors directly inside QuickBooks, and offers custom approval workflows, audit trail, 1099 e-filing, and auto-reconciliation.* All Bill Pay users now also get free standard ACH. This makes it even more affordable to streamline your vendor payments and improve cash flow management. (Available for $45/mo as an add-on to Simple Start, Essentials, Plus)

Industry solutions: Construction, professional services, with more coming this year 

Advanced offers industry solutions, starting with construction and professional services. 

Construction businesses gain solutions that help protect profit from bid to closeout including structured budgets by phase, AIA-style billing, and change order management. 

Professional services industries, including consulting, architecture, creative agencies, and other project-based businesses, get one connected place to protect margin from proposal to final invoice. Now includes cost tracking by phase, integrated change order management, and milestone-based progressive billing, all in one connected financial platform. (Available in QuickBooks Advanced)

Enhanced inventory 

Know exactly what you have, what it costs, and what to reorder—automatically, without leaving QuickBooks. Better manage inventory natively with Item Receipt, Moving Average Cost valuation, and Sales Order to Purchase Order linking. (Available in Plus and Advanced, and available as a $40/mo add-on to QuickBooks Simple Start and Essentials)

Continuously Clean Books

The winning combination for your business is AI + Human Intelligence (HI). With our new Continuously Clean Books service (available in Advanced), we bring that human element to the forefront. Transactions are categorized, verified, and posted according to your business preferences, and our experts perform regular quality checks to ensure your financial data remains accurate year-round—not just at tax time. This partnership ensures you have reliable, verified insights when you need them.

Activation is designed to be seamless and is tailored to the way your business is structured. Note: For client-billed subscriptions, this service is ready to turn on immediately. If you are on a firm-billed subscription, please coordinate with your accountant to check eligibility and enable the service for your account.

Built in reporting and analytics suite, no extra apps required

QuickBooks Advanced now includes a built-in reporting, analytics, and forecasting suite. Features include a KPI Scorecard with custom and pre-built metrics, Management Reports that combine financials and charts into shareable packages, drag-and-drop Dashboards, a Custom Report Builder, budgets and forecasts alongside actuals. Embedded AI surfaces anomalies, answers questions about your books in plain language, generates editable commentary for reports, and shows how your key metrics compare to peers in your industry. The reporting and analytics suite allows you to gain insights that drive action.

Important information about your subscription

We’re all in on your growth. To continue delivering these innovations and the high-quality service you expect, the monthly subscription prices for QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced will change for renewals on or after August 1, 2026. This investment is to fuel our QuickBooks platform, which is designed to simplify your finances, drive revenue, and help you scale with confidence.

If you’re using QuickBooks Advanced, this update includes Bill Pay Elite (a $540/year value), industry-specific tools for construction and professional services ($900/year value), and enhanced reporting capabilities.

Pricing for QuickBooks Free, Lite, Ledger, and Simple Start remains unchanged.

You may upgrade or downgrade, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through the gear icon by selecting Subscriptions and Billing.

Predictable pricing for new customers

We are committed to predictable pricing for our new customers. If you are a recent QuickBooks Online subscriber, the price you pay for your subscription will remain the same for the first six months of your subscription. The updated pricing will not take effect for you until your seventh invoice, ensuring you have time to get settled and experience the full value of your QuickBooks subscription.

Controls to enable are managed within your QuickBooks Online file. For accountant-attached customers, consult your accountant for next steps.

"Invoicing on Autopilot" and "Intuit Intelligence/Conversational Business Intelligence" are currently available as beta releases. Features, availability, and capacity are subject to change.
