You came to the right place for help with changing your reconciliation year date in QuickBooks Online, chevota68.

If you haven't completed the reconciliation yet, you can still change the reconciliation ending date by following these steps:

  1. Click Accounting in the left panel and select the Reconcile tab.
  2. Choose the bank account from the Account drop-down list.
  3. Tap the Resume reconciling button.
  4. From the upper right-hand corner, click the Edit Info button.
  5. Change the reconciliation year date from there.

  6. Hit Save.

However, if you've already finished the process, you'll need to undo the reconciliation and correct the year date. The Undo option is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant. I'd recommend inviting your accountant to your company, and let them undo the reconciliation period at once.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner, and select Manage Users.
  2. Go to the Accounting firms tab, enter the accountant's email and click the Invite button.
  3. Hit Save.
  4. Once invited, have your accountant undo the entire reconciliation.

Otherwise, you'll need to undo the reconciled transactions one at a time so you can change the date. You can use this article for reference: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online. On the same link, you'll find a write-up that provides steps on how to adjust as well as fixing beginning balances.

Hi, chevota68.

Hope you're doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about the reconciliation year date you had yesterday. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I'd be happy to help you at anytime.

Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!

Hi there I recently reconciled 3 months but instead of doing the current year, I accidentally did last year and now the balance is off.. if I manually undo all the reconciled accounts and correct the date on bank register, will that allow me to re reconcile the month?

I have followed the instructions about removing the R but there is no way to change the statement date.  This is frustrating as undoing a reconciliation should not be an accountant only feature.  We are paying for a product and should have control over what we do with our accounts in that product.  We could always undo a reconciliation in desktop. Why does Intuit/Quickbooks think it should control what we can do with our accounts?  HOW DO I CHANGE THE STATEMENT ENDING DATE WITHOUT AN ACCOUNTANT????

I completely understand your frustration. There's no need for an accountant to change the ending date. You can keep control of your books by completing the manual process you started. Since you have already removed the "R" from the transactions, start a fresh reconciliation, and QuickBooks Online will let you type in the correct Ending Balance and Ending Date for that period. From there, re-select the transactions and finish the reconciliation with the correct date.

Feel free to return if you have follow-up questions.
