Greetings, Jhauge.

Allow me to share some information about restoring a backup copy in QuickBooks Desktop.

You may want to make sure that the company file you're trying to restore was not converted to other version or an earlier version of the company file

Here's an article with detailed steps and information about restoring a backup company file: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Reports-and-accounting/Restore-a-backup-of-your-company-file/m-p/203714.

If you're still unable to restore the correct file, I'd suggest contacting QuickBooks Desktop Support. Agents have the necessary tools, like screen-sharing to get you back up and running.

To reach us, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

You'll be back to business in no time. Please know I'm only a post away if you have any other questions.

It sounds like you restored your file to your zip drive.  Press F2 and look in the upper left for the path name of your file.  If it points to your Zip drive, this is the problem.

To correct it, make a backup of your current file then restore it to the desired location (on your C:\ drive?).
