We want to give customer credit and set a limit in QB so we don't over extend this credit.  Is there any way to do this?

What kind of business do you run? A wholesaler? You need a 3rd party inventory management app to integrate with QBO.

I can share some information with customer credit in QuickBooks Online, @mmajewski77

At this time, giving a customer credit limit hasn't been added to QuickBooks Online (QBO). I can see how important having a customer limit is for your setup with QBO, so I’ll take note of it.

Feel free to provide comments from within your QuickBooks account. These are the steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Provide your product suggestion.
  3. Click on Next to submit feedback.

For additional details on how to provide feedback to enhance the program, see this article: How do I submit feedback?.

As a workaround, you may consider checking a third-party app that works well with QBO that can set a credit limit. You can look for a third-party app from our QBO App Center. Just choose the right application that suits your business.

Stay in touch if you have additional concerns about managing your customers by leaving a comment below. I'm always glad to help in any way I can. Have a great rest of the day!

QBs had the option to enter the amount of credit given to each customer, but I haven't seen that in years!

Guess they thought it wasn't needed and removed that option. Sad. BRING IT BACK!

Yes, please bring it back!

Hey there! We ran into the same issue with customers going over their credit limits, so I built a tool to solve it — it’s called Blume (useblume.com).

Blume connects to QuickBooks Online in minutes, pulls all your customer balances, compares them to their credit limits, and sends automatic email alerts when they’re over. It also tracks overdue balances and sends smart reminders (since QBO’s default reminders are often ignored). Plus, it shows each customer’s average days to pay, helping you stay ahead of cash flow issues.

Feel free to check it out — I’m happy to give you 2 free months if you’d like to try it out!
