Reclassify Transactions: Changing More Than 300 at Once

Hi all.

I'm in the process of preparing to merge my QBO with another division of our company. We are trying to insure that our account numbers and classes are the same before we begin.

I need to to change every transaction that has no class, to a transaction that has the new class assigned to my department.

The QBO Accountant toolbox has a handy Reclassify Transactions tool that let's me reclassify many of these transactions at once, but there will still be over 1000 pages of transactions to reclassify.

Can anyone either

1) Explain how to use the reclassify tool to batch reclassify the whole dang database at once, or

2) Recommend a third party app that will perform this function.

It's great to know that you're already familiar with the Reclassify Transactions feature. Yes, you're correct, this feature changes multiple transactions or move transactions to similar accounts or change their classes.

Follow along below to get those transactions to move to the new class:

Open your client’s QuickBooks Online company.
Click the Accountant Tools and then Reclassify Transactions.
In the Account types drop-down menu, choose Profit and Loss to see income and expense accounts. Or Balance Sheet to view your asset, liability, and equity accounts.
From the Account list, pick the account with the transactions you want to change.
Use these type, class, customer/vendor, and modify filters to filter the list. Tip: You can also select Accrual to see all paid and unpaid transactions or Cash to see only paid transactions.
Tap Find Transactions.
Check the box for each transaction you want to change.
Hit Reclassify.
Select a new class from Change class to dropdown.
When you’re ready, tick Apply.
