Need a list of the exact rates that auto populate in Quickbooks. Using this due to the inability of Quickbooks to update FX rates on imported invoices automatically.
Hi shakoorarham,
The source of foreign exchange rates in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is Wall Street On Demand. You can visit their site through link to get the exchange rates list: http://online.wsj.com/mdc/public/page/2_3021-forex.html.
Additionally, QBO by default uses the current rate the day you recorded those invoices, which is why the rate can be different.
Don't hesitate to post here in the Community if there's anything else you need. Have a wonderful day!
Where can we find the historic rates from Wall Street on Demand? I looked everywhere and I cannot see it. Xero's foreign exchange rate comes from XE.com and it is so easy to find the historic rates by any date https://www.xe.com/currencytables/. Can someone from QB advise us please?
Hi michell1,
We're unable to get the information from our end. You can reach out to Wall Street on Demand Customer Care Team. They might be able to provide you with the steps.
Thanks for reaching out to us. Please don't hesitate ask if you have other questions or concerns.
Hi,
I just want to verify that exchange rate from QBO still fetching from https://www.wsj.com/market-data/currencies/exchangerates
Thanks.
Hi lynnphtr1. I appreciate you chiming in on this. QBO uses the exchange rates from Wall Street on Demand. You can also reference the link you sent above if you'd like to check out the exchange rates. Feel free to ask questions, I'm here to assist.
I had contact WSJ and not reply on how to get the historical currency exchange rate.
Can someone from QB help us to get the correct link for historical values?
Hi michell1. Since the historical rates are handled through WSJ, you'd have to go through them. I can tell you're just as eager as I am to get to the bottom of this. Don't worry, I'll help steer you towards the right path. I'd encourage you to reach to WSJ using other contact methods which I've listed below:
You can also email them by going through the contact form using this link here. Feel free to keep me posted on how you make out.
Hello QBO,
Is there any update about the daily FX rate history ? Cannot get it from Wall street on demand...
a CSV file would be awesome... and well if QBO can release a new report for that purpose, I guess a lot of customers would be very happy :)
Thanks for joining this thread, Benjamin.

At the moment, QuickBooks is unable to provide this information or file. The system uses the most current foreign exchange rates on transactions and only keep a record of it for reporting purposes. However, keeping the history of daily exchange rates isn't part of our program processes. This is why we're unable to generate a file for it.
For now, what you can do in QuickBooks is to run reports of previously entered transactions and filter it by exchange rates.
If you'd like to see the raw data based on the currency billed for a foreign client, you can use the A/R Aging Detail or a Transaction List by Customer Report. Here are the steps to do that:
Post here anytime if you have other questions or concerns in the program. Me and my colleagues are ready to help you out. Have a good one!
