Why does the date filter in Banking no longer include "Last Fiscal Year"?

Hi jimmy77,

Thanks for joining us! I'm glad you're using Online Banking in QuickBooks Online to automatically download your transactions in your books. Choosing the proper date filter in your account enables you to easily sort out your transactions. I'll be happy to share more on this.

In both the Categorized and For review tab in the Banking menu, you can filter your transactions by date using several filter options. Last Fiscal Year isn't currently part of the list of date filters, and you could perhaps explore the option Custom to insert your date range. Other filters you can choose from include: All dates, Today, Yesterday, This week, This month, This quarter, This year, Last 365 days, Last week, Last month, Last quarter, and Last year. I know how date filters save time when sorting transactions, and I invite you to submit feedback directly to our engineers if you'd like to see more. We are always looking at ways to improve our product, and your opinion helps a lot with that.

Feel free to stop by any time if you need anything else!

Have a great day

Why does the date filter in Banking no longer include "Last Fiscal Year"?

It used to be an option, and it continues to be an option for the date filters of the other screens.

It's an accounting program, obviously filtering on fiscal years is important.

How does one go about raising this as an issue with the development team?

Why does the date filter in Banking no longer include "Last Fiscal Year"?

Apparently this came about with an update to the software. When I first spoke to Customer Support directly about this the representative didn't understand what the difference was between 'This Financial Year' and 'This Year' which wasn't exactly confidence inspiring. We're months on now and nothing has been fixed and it looks like it won't be. QuickBooks is now incredibly difficult to use without the Fiscal Quarter and Year filters. Sometimes I struggle to see how HMRC approve this software. I work with and support technical software on a daily basis and I haven't come across any other software where the support is so opaque. My accountant suggests switching to Xero and to be honest he's probably right.

I hear what you're saying @3D Phil and I hope you'll consider submitting feedback on this. I'll be sure to pass it along on my end again as well. You still have the ability to use the Custom date range when filtering transactions from the Banking page, which gives you the ability to select the dates which encompass your fiscal year. I can see how this would be more time-consuming though. What's most important is that you're able to choose an accounting software that best meets the needs of your business. We'll be sad to see you go, but if you choose to move to another software we wish you all the best. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to support your bookkeeping journey.

Why does the date filter in Banking no longer include "Last Fiscal Year"?

Hi Rebecca.

Thank you for your reply. This has been submitted to your application developers via your customer service team - they initially replied that this feature 'may' reappear in a future service release. Given that response was a few months ago then I'm assuming it won't happen and the feature is gone for good. Unfortunately (and ironically in this case) I'm stuck with QuickBooks until the end of my financial year.

You are correct in that setting up a custom filter would get round this but it is more time consuming particular given the behaviour of filters (at least in Safari for Mac OS). So, if I have a set of filtered transactions (let's say 'This month') and I open a transaction in that filtered list to check, for example, an expense entry, when I close that entry and go back to the transaction list the filter is gone and I need to reset everything again. Is there a way to make filters 'sticky'?

I see where you're coming from, 3D Phil. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback on this. I can see how important it is to have the filters stick every time you apply them. A workaround for this would be opening up more than one browser tab. One tab can have the filtered results and the other can have the transactions you're looking to view or edit. Let me know if this info helps. I'll be a message away.

Why does the date filter in Banking no longer include "Last Fiscal Year"?

Hi,

how come my Date filter is not working suddenly. When I click the ALL DATE, there is no scroll down options for "THIS YEAR, LAST YEAR, THIS MONTH, ...etc." How should I fix it?

Hi Serena33,

Don't worry, I can explain what's going on with your bank feed page in QuickBooks Online. I know how useful the date filter option is, so I want to make sure you have the details to move forward with getting it back in working order.

After several reports from customers today, it was brought to our attention that the date filter on the banking feed isn't working. Users that have tried clicking it today to choose their date options have been met instead with a white portion of the screen where the transactions in the feed were a moment before. We've already brought this to the attention of our engineering team, and they're on the job to find the problem and resolve it.

If that's what's happening with your account as well and you'd like to be added to the ticket for this issue, please feel free to get in touch with us using one of the following contact options. Doing this will give us the opportunity to add your details to the ticket and sign you up for email updates from the engineering team in case any are sent out. You're also welcome to contact us if you're seeing a different result when clicking to filter the date as it may be related and help us with finding a solution.
