Making Tax Digital HMRC connection problem

Dear Friends,

I have created a new client in my QB but am unable to connect HMRC as it shows the message "

We can’t connect to HMRC right now". I am trying to solve this issue as per their guidelines, but  I can't see the "Making Tax Digital" button on the Settings>Account and Settings > Advanced. I have attached the screenshot of my options on the "Advanced" tab.

 

Would you please suggest to me how can I solve this problem?

I appreciate you keeping in touch with us about the filing issue. I know how crucial being able to submit the forms on time to avoid penalties.

 

I can also see you have a previously filed return showing as due in QuickBooks. Allow me to chime in and help you get the support you need to fix the filing problem as quickly as possible.

 

Since you've already tried the suggested basic troubleshooting, I recommend contacting our dedicated QuickBooks team. Our support can look into this issue further and ensure you can get back on track. You have the option to choose the Callback or Chat option. 

 

Here's how you can reach them:

 

  1. Click the Help option in the upper-right corner.
  2. Go to the Search tab.
  3. Select Contact Us at the bottom.

Nice to meet you, @BZaman. I can guide you on how you can isolate the issue.

You can perform some basic browser troubleshooting to improve and speed up your browser's performance. Cookies and caches may prevent you from seeing the Making Tax Digital connection option in Account and Settings.

Here's how:
 

  1. Restart your browser.
  2. Log in to your account and check the Making Tax Digital connection option in Account and Settings in an incognito or private browser. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:
  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Once it works on the private browser, you can go back to the regular browser and clear your browser's cache. Then open your QuickBooks account and proceed to your task in the Account and settings.

In case you'll still get the same error, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support team. Let me guide you how:
 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:

 

  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

We have registered in HMRC for MTD VAT, have connected MTD in quickbooks. Yet when I click on 'File return with HRMC', the link redirects me to QBO home page instead of HMRC site. My tax filing is due in next 7 days and I can't afford to miss it. Need urgent help!

Hello Sharat Hedge, Can you try clearing your cache and cookies to all time, close the browser down, reload it, log back in and try again does the same thing still happen or does it allow you to submit the return?

I tried that. No use. It still redirects me to the QBO homepage!

Actually it shows that the previous return is due for filing as well, whereas the same was filed back in April. I am not allowed to mark it as filed either. I get an unexpected error. It is problematic overall! Need an urgent solution,
