I have been sent some QBB files for Desktop, which I don't have on my computer. I need to open them for a client but I don't know the process. Can someone help?
Hi there, jeffpchandler.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. Let me discuss how files in QuickBooks Desktop works. Then, I'll ensure you can open the QBB file smoothly.
Every QuickBooks company file is generally saved with an extension determining the QuickBooks file. The extensions such as. QBB is primarily used to store all your tabulated data and financial information or this is a backup file data. With this, opening this file needs to have a QuickBooks Desktop installed on your computer so you can restore it and view the needed details.
Since you've mentioned that the program hasn't been on your computer, I suggest downloading and using our 30-day trial version of QBDT. This way, you can restore or open your company file from there using the backup company file (.qbb). Before doing so, you'll have to make sure that your computer's operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements are compatible to run QuickBooks Desktop. You can open this article to see extra details: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

Here's how:
After that, you can now view and open the company QBB file that you can work with your client.
Lastly, you may refer to this article to see steps on how you can fix general problems when your company file won't open: Can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.
