Quickbooks PC Desktop to MAC

I'm glad you posted in the Community, Om. I'll make sure you can utilize your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company file on your PC to Mac.

You can create a copy of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Windows company file for use on a Mac. Please know that you can still access the original file on your PC or Windows Desktop after copying it. Additionally, this process can only be done from QBDT Pro, Premier, or Premier Accountant versions.

The first thing you need to do is create a back-up company file so that whatever happens to your file during the process, you have the original copy. After that, start creating a company file copy for QBDT Mac.

Feel free to follow these steps:

1. Update QuickBooks for Desktop for Windows to the latest release.
2. Ensure you open the file as the administrator.
3. Select Utilities from the File menu. Then, click Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac. Once done, follow the on-screen steps.
4. After that, QuickBooks will create a MAC.qbb (backup) file. A message will show stating "It looks like ‘QuickBooks for Windows’ might be a better fit for your company." Make sure to check what data isn’t converted from Windows. If you want to continue, select Yes.
5. Go to the folder where you want to save the file. Name the file and select Save. Make sure not to use special characters in the file name.
6. Move the file to your Mac using any storage device, such as a USB flash drive, etc.

You need to have the same year version on PC and Mac. Otherwise, you can use the trial version as a workaround.

The "Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac" Option is not available on my Windows desktop. Do I need to adjust some setting to make this option show up?

The Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac option is only available for QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Premiere versions. However, we have established workflows for converting QBDT Enterprise Windows files to Mac that's best handled by our specialized support team who can guide you through the conversion.

I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop live support. They'll guide you with the alternative way to convert your file using a parallel app. Here's how to contact our support: 

1.  Head to Help on the top menu and select Contact Us.
2. Click the Contact Us button and enter a brief summary of your concern.
3. Select Submit and enter your Intuit account to proceed with contacting our support.

After that, you can consider creating and opening a portable company file in QBDT. This helps you share your company file to your accountant quickly.

Do you have QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus or Premier Plus?

I have Windows 2024 enterprise and mac 2024 plus

You can't convert data from Enterprise to Mac. You need to purchase a 3rd party service to do so. Contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.
