Hi there, @SL13.

I'll make sure you'll be able to access the QuickBooks Desktop account remotely. Let me share with you some insights about hosting the company files.

As you can see, Fiat Lux - ASIA shared a way to access QuickBooks Desktop remotely by utilizing Chrome Remote Desktop plug-in for free.

I'd like to add another option, which is QuickBooks Desktop hosting.

Make sure to have a hosting service to access your QuickBooks data file stored at a different location. Store all your QuickBooks company file on a service provider's servers to allow users to access QuickBooks securely,  and remotely. You need to have access to the internet for the remote desktop connection.

I'm providing you articles to refer to in hosting the QuickBooks company files:

Just a piece of additional information, I'll share with you an article to learn more about setting up your software at home, check out this article: How to set up QuickBooks Desktop to work from home.

Utilize Chrome Remote Desktop plug-in for free. If you need more feature, explore this paid remote desktop app.

If you need to access in multiuser mode at the same time, you will need another solution.

So I need to find a hosting service approved by quickbooks?  Is the chrome remote extension a good idea or no.  Also is the a phone number that I could call to speak with someone to help me through this.  I am no techie.

If all you need is one person remote access then all you need  is a simple low or no cost remote desktop application. Windows 10 has it built in. Not sure I would trust Google with my company info (chrome rote desktop)

I prefer Splashtop aka Spladhtop Streamer which is free if your host and remote are on same network and nominal cost for the version that would connect you from anywhere ypu can get wifi.

Any of the above solutions let you take over your home computer when away from your desk and acts just like you were still there.

This means you can use a MacBook or iPad or iPhone to run your PC version of QB Desktop..

If you use or need multi-user access then you will have to install your software a little different. You can self-host , or pay for hosting but in no way are you limited or restricted into using QB/Intuit as the host server.

I have an associate whose QB company files are all hosted by their local internet service provider

At this time I am the only one that needs to be able to access the quickbooks desktop remotely.

They use to have a little app, i cant remember what it was called, but it let me connect with my phone and i could do invoices, quotes and see my customer and item lists. It was perfect for what I needed but they ditched that about the time QB online came out. Offsite hosting is out for me because if your internet goes out you might as well go home. I know it sounds silly but it happens quite a bit here. I use a Multiuser environment so that complicates things. Really GotomyPC or whatever seemed to be the best solution when i was using it, granted that was awhile ago now. I will probably tinker with windows RDP. It would be quite nice if i could just put my QB file on a usb drive and plug it into my router, but nope....

@LeeBert

Another option, you can setup a simple private solution to run QBD in multiuser mode over the internet which is similar to RDP but doesn't require any IT background to implement. It costs $25 per month per access. You can use the same login in turns between your team to lower your expenses.
