Rebuilding a file

When trying to backup, I receive a message that I had issues with the company file that required a rebuild.  I've never seen these before.  Does rebuilding hurt any of your current data?

Rebuilding a file

You will need to rebuild your company file to fix it. If the rebuild data feature cannot remove the error message, you can purchase a third-party service to do so.

Rebuilding a file

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), rebuilding the company file is an important tool for resolving data integrity issues, such as transaction and list errors in your file. It will not affect your current data, @ljm11. I'm here to help clarify this for you.

The error code you've encountered usually occurs when there are damaged links between transactions or the transactions themselves. Rebuilding the company file is a reliable tool to fix any data issues within your QuickBooks file. It helps identify and resolve errors you might be experiencing, ensuring that your data remains accurate and your financial reports are trustworthy. Rest assured that rebuilding is intended to preserve the integrity of your existing data.

Before starting, create a complete backup of your company file to ensure you can restore your data to its last known good state if anything goes wrong, even though that's quite rare.
