QuickBooks 2022 Payment Processing - Unsure if Customer was Charged

Recent upgrade to QB Desktop 2022. Previously used QB 2019 and merchant services to charge customers.

When I attempt manually charge a customer now, I do not receive the prompt from merchant services. See screenshot below.

Ultimately, unsure if merchant services is wired up to charge the customer. I see the credit card entry screen but do not see any type of confirmation that the charge went through. Had also attempted to use QB Online, but decided to go back to QB Desktop for all bookkeeping and merchant service processing.

Good day, @troy1. I'll assist you on how to check customer payments.

You'll want to go to your Merchant account and view your transactions. Then, verify if it went through.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your Merchant account.
  2. From there, choose the Activity & Reports drop-down to select Transactions.
  3. Click the Dates drop-down to set the correct date range and then the Search button. This will open a list of processed payments for that period.

If you're unable to find it, I suggest contacting our Payments Support team. They're equipped with tools to trace customer payments.

Additionally, you have the option to enable your preferences to receive notifications for paid invoices.

Follow these steps:

  1. In your Merchant account, choose Settings & Alerts under Account.
  2. Select Yes under Receive Credit Card Deposit Notification in the Email Alerts section.
  3. Enter the email address where you'd like to receive the notifications. For multiple email addresses, separate them with semi-colons.
  4. Enter the email address in the empty box that appears when you click a notification's Yes radio button.
  5. Save the information.

Tap the Reply button if you have more questions about setting up emails or anything else QuickBooks. I'll be just around the corner waiting for your response!

Thanks, however I am really concerned with how to actually charge a customer based on the screenshot provided. There is a prompt to enter CC info, but it isn't clear how to actually charge the customer. The prompt/UI/UX was different in QB 2019. Please clarify.

I am entering the customer card information into QuickBooks and it is not charging them. I am getting no feedback on whether charges go through, but I can confirm based on the merchant services history in the link provided it is not going through.

We need to know immediately how to charge customers, the 2022 screenshot we provided is where we are entering the information.

Hi troy1,

Thank you for being so patient in wanting to get an answer about processing a credit card payment. I'd like to jump in and clear this up.

You would normally see a prompt saying whether the transaction is successful or not, just like how the previous versions would. Nothing has changed.

At this point, I recommend reaching out to our QB Desktop Support so they can view your setup and gather more information to investigate this issue. They have the tools for that.

If you have other concerns, feel free to go back to this thread.
