Buy nowAn employee requested vacation for his wedding. Originally He had enough vacation hours so the boss approved the vacation request, But since then his mother got sick and he used all his vacation to care for his mother. Our policy is that if you miss work you have to take vacation. (even if was already approved for a future event, So now he has no vacation left to for his wedding which is in a few months. How doe Intuit Quickbooks Time handle ithis ?
Thanks
LDO
For clarification: While he did use all his vacation to care for his sick mother, we will let him off for his wedding but we dont want him to think he will get paid vacation because it was previously aprroved.
How does QB payroll (Time or Workforce AP) let him know that he has used all his vacation and the time he takes for his wedding will be unpaid?
Thanks
LDO
QuickBooks Time can track time-off requests and balances, but it does not automatically enforce your company’s internal policy. If the employee has already used all available vacation time, the wedding leave can remain approved as time away from work, but it should be treated as unpaid if no vacation balance remains. For proper recordkeeping, you can cancel or unapprove the original request and re-enter those same dates as Unpaid Time Off.
Please note that employees can view their vacation balance in the Workforce app. However, the app does not automatically send a notification indicating that previously approved time will now be unpaid. You may want to communicate this change directly to the employee so expectations are clear.
Determining whether employees should be required to use vacation time for any missed hours depends on your company policy. If you are interested in streamlining your payroll process or need expert guidance, I suggest exploring our QuickBooks Payroll Services.
