I along with over 50 over my other friends hate the way QB is going. Is there and alternative to the non cloud based quicbooks pro? No intuit?
Hello there, lamcgrath.
I heard your sentiments about the interface or how the system works in QuickBooks. Your opinion is important for us to help improve our products.
In the QuickBooks Community, we're unable to suggest or provide other alternative non-cloud-based products. Although, you can visit our website for other QuickBooks products that will suit your business. Otherwise, you'll want to look for a third-party app in our QuickBooks Desktop app store or other accounting software of your choice that meets your business needs.
I've also added this article where you can find helpful articles, video tutorials, and more on managing your QuickBooks account: Learn QuickBooks.
Keep me posted if you have other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'm always here to help you.
Do you and other 50 friends have QB Desktop Pro Plus?
Why do you “hate” them? Any specific concerns?
We may share an alternative to consider.
Add me to your list. 50 friends and one reader of your post. Our renewal date is June 1, so I have just over a month to convert to a new system.
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
add me to the list. We do not want to 'upgrade' to the online version and need another program.
Qb desktop 2022 pro plus with payroll.
We all hate the costly way QB is going. I have 6 different companies that I use the qb for to track job costs for Year end taxes I cannot use online because it does not track job costing. It is getting to expensive
Qb desktop pro 2022 for construction

Do you need to run any add-ons after May 2024? e.g Payroll, Merchant Service
I'm also interested in an alternative to QB's blatant money grab. I want a desktop version that I can purchase for a reasonable price, much as I have been able to do in the past.

Right there with the group on planning to move to an Intuit competitor if that company gets rid of QuickBooks Desktop in an attempt for force people to accept QuickBooks Online that is an inferior product for my needs. A lot of my fellow business owners, their CPAs, and others are also looking to do the same. It is amazing this Intuit completely ignore what their customers actually want. Fine if some people prefer QuickBooks Online but do not push that product on everyone else that does not want it and will leave for products by Intuit competitors.
No. But I do need the ability to import webconnect files from my bank. As of 5/31/24, QB doesn't allow me to do that anymore.
I'm leaving quickbooks after close to thirty years of using the desktop version. The price hike and forcible transition to online is a blatant money grab for a less versatile product. I always worried that this day would come because of the hassle of transitioning to a competitors software. But now I'm so pissed off, the transition is going to be a pleasure.
That's exactly how I feel.
You can use an importer tool. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase it through a reseller.

If the manual procedure is too much trouble, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2022 as a workaround.
I don't need add-ons, although I need the ability to upload my credit card statement from my bank. This ability disappeared from QB on June 1.
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, John R1. I appreciate your detailed information.
I've reviewed our article on the topic of importing web connect files and can confirm this feature's still available in QuickBooks.
Here's how to download transactions using Web Connect inside of your books:
You can also download transactions using Web Connect outside of QuickBooks:
I've also included a detailed resource about working with QuickBooks Web Connect files which may come in handy moving forward: Download bank feed transactions
I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Tuesday!
Have you tried the importer tool I mentioned?
Yes - if anyone has recommendations for another software company that doesn't hate its customers I'd love to hear it. I would also like to find one that provides adequate, trained tech support like quickbooks used to before they shut it all down and moved to outsourced, untrained teenagers.
Literally any other software but intuit would be great to hear about. I've never seen a company eff up something so much - it's like that lady that ran yahoo into the ground bought intuit or something.
If you're still looking for a decent desktop-based program (not cloud based) with a trained support team, it's time to consider using an ERP (e.g Accumatica, Netsuite).
@ZackEI can download the WebConnect files from my bank as I always have, but when I attempt to import them into QB, I get a message that "Online Banking and other services in QB 2021 were discontinued on 5/31/24"
Thanks for getting back, John R1. I'll share some explanation as to why you're receiving a message prompt when importing your transactions.
If you're using the discontinued version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), please know that using other services through QBDT will no longer be available. It includes importing your transactions from Web Connect. To continue using your company file, I can think of two options. You can upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release or manually import your transactions.
After importing your transactions, you can categorize them from your Banking menu. Navigate to the Banking Feeds dropdown and click on Banking Feeds Center, or access this article for more detailed steps: Create rules to categorize transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
When you're ready to reconcile, you can make this as a reference: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please let me know whenever you want to ask more questions about importing transactions in QuickBooks. I'll be glad to help you.
