Just switched to QBO. Want to run a Report on an individual item. Sales receipts come up, purchases from vendors do not. Looked all over for a way to turn on purchases as it has always been in QBDesktop. Doesn't seem to be an option. I would also like any inventory adjustments to show up in the report
No, no, no. I have QBO Plus. I'm in the Products & Services window. I click on the Action arrow in the right-most column. I choose "Run Report". That used to be Quick Report in QB for Mac. I get a report that lists Sales receipts but no purchased and no inventory adjustments. I need both any purchases I've made from a vendor for that item and and inventory adjustments I've made for that item to appear in the report as well as sales receipts
I can imagine how challenging it must be when you’re not seeing a complete picture of your inventory transactions, Lomon. Keeping track of sales, purchases, and inventory adjustments is important for effectively managing your business. Let’s find a solution so you can get all the necessary information in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
To get started, we can run and customize the Sales by Product/Service Summary report and the Purchases by Product/Service Detail report. By filtering these reports to focus on your specific product or service items, we can gather all the necessary information you need.
You can do these for both reports:
Additionally, to ensure sales receipts are included in your report, follow these steps:
To have all of these transactions, we can run the Inventory Valuation Detail report. This shows the three transactions you need, just make sure to add the accurate date of the transactions that you want to view. To do this process you can follow these steps:
Once everything is set up, you can export these transactions to keep a copy for your records.

While I appreciate the effort in detailing all you did, you are not answering the question I am asking.
Let's try again. I'm in Products & Services. All of my items are listed. At the right side of the window as I've illustrated above in a screen capture, is a drop down menu with the following options - Make Inactive; Run Report; Duplicate.
I choose to Run Report. That used to be "Quick Report" in QBMac. So forget all those other reports that you are conjurring up - way overkill. I just want a sinmple report on an individual item are grouping of items. Here's an example from QBMac.
Notice how you can see "Sales Receipts" "Bills" "Inventory Adjustments" and at the very bottom a "Purchase Order". The second screenshot shows the same report from QBO. Notice how the only entrees in that report are for "Sales Receipts" No "Bills". No "Inventory Adjustments". No "Purchase Orders" I have a simple question: How do I fix this so that those transactions are shown. I have tried customizing the report to no avail.
Reports > Inventory Valuation Detail > Filter (choose Product/Service, equals, Product/Service XYZ). Select the appropriate date range.
That will show all transactions that change the on-hand quantity: invoices, sales receipts, bills, inventory adjustments, etc.
Thanks for this. I just realized I'm having trouble with inventory status of a bunch of items that we just imported into QBO and I'm going to have the migration repeated. Perhaps the problem has something to do with that.
I sure hope so because I can't believe the simple item quick-report that I've been relying on for 25 years is not going to work in QBO (and your solution is not a simple item quick-report - I don't want to have to filter down through a larger report and I shouldn't have to) .
It must have something to do with the QBO import because the QB Online Quick Report matches my QB Desktop version.
I am having the same problem/frustration. I had quickbooks enterprise and could go item, run report, check if item is on order, as well as what I ordered over a course of time. Now that process is arduous. Run report from the item menu does not show POs. Only invoices, bills and inventory adjustments. This is a massive flaw that needs to be addressed immediately by intuit. And no, the user doesn't need to jump through hoops to try to patch the softwares fault. This functionality is necessary for effective inventory management. This is a critical fix.
If that is the case I am having the same problem, my migration has proved to be a mess, and I migrated 10 months ago. I really need PO's in my product/service quick/report. So if find a solution I would really like to find out what it is because it sounds like we are having the same issue.
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, NathanVSA.
You can try some of the reports mentioned by my colleagues and other users above if you'd like to. It sounds like some users found the Inventory Valuation Detail report recommended by Rainflurry to be useful for their needs.
