I am trying to setup payroll to be able to send paystubs via email.  It needs to sign into my Intuit account.  When it brings up the log in box the user ID is an older ID and I am not able to edit it.

Hello, @Yet_t.

You can go to the Customer Account Management Portal Site (CAMPS) to update the email address associated with your login.

Here's how:

  1. After logging in to your My Account go to the Manage your QuickBooks page.
  2. Find your company name and click the drop-down arrow at the top right.
  3. Click the Edit Login page and go to the Profile tab.
  4. In the Email address field, click the Edit button.
  5. Provide your new email address in the Email address and Confirm email address field.
  6. Add all the necessary information.
  7. Click Save once you’re done.

Check this article for more information: Update the email address you use for QuickBooks Desktop. You can also view the following article on how to set up and start using your new Payroll for QuickBooks Desktop: Get started with Payroll.

I appreciate the response.  The online account does not seem to be the issue.  I go into edit the account and find it has the correct information already there.  The issue appears to be with QB2018 desktop that insist on prefilling in the user ID when it wants me to connect to Intuit for sending the paystubs.  It will not let me edit the user ID field.  I could change my user ID back on the account to the old email address but the company hosting it has been defunct for many years.

Hey there, @Yet_t.

Allow me to offer a suggestion.

Let's reset the Intuit ID settings. In QuickBooks Desktop, anytime you log into your Intuit account, it will lock in that user ID for you to help speed things along for the next time you need to log in. To edit the user name field, you'll have to reset the Intuit ID settings. I've included the steps below to accomplish this.

1. Open the Help menu.

2. Choose Reset Intuit ID Settings

3. Type Yes to confirm, then click OK

4. Click OK on the following message.

That's all there is to it. Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns. I'll be here for you every step of the way. You can always reach out to us here in the Community anytime you need a helping hand in getting back to business. Take care and enjoy your day!
