Does QuickBooks Online support Single Sign-On (SSO) / SAML authentication  with Office 365 or Azure Active Directory?

Best answer by MJoy_D

I can share some information about Single Sign-On (SSO) / SAML authentication in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @richardperkins.

I can direct you to our dedicated developer community forum, where you will be taken through the process of connecting Azure AD with QBO so that you can simply access your account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this site Intuit Developer Support.
  2. Click on API Docs & Tools and select QuickBooks Online.
  3. Choose the Ask a Question button to post your concern.

You may also consider using Google SSO to sign in to QuickBooks Online, check this article for more information: Sign in to QuickBooks Online with Google .

In case you have any other QuickBooks concerns in the future, you can check out our QBO help articles.

If you have any further questions about logging in to your account, please do not hesitate to leave a reply on this thread. Have a good day and stay safe!

Hi saasexec,

Currently, QuickBooks Online supports Single Sign-On. You need to set up the authorization flow so your users can connect their QuickBooks Online companies to your app. There are a few ways to handle the UI:

  • You can add a “Connect” button to your app’s UI so users can start the authorization flow directly.
  • You can implement Intuit Single Sign-on to simplify the sign in experience.

You can check this link for more information about this option: Implement Intuit Single Sign-on.

I'll be around whenever you have other concerns with managing your QuickBooks account. Keep safe!

The question is not being addressed.  I am not a developer, and I am looking to enable Single Sign On/
SAML using Azure or Okta.  Either it is Intuit's best kept secret, or it simply isn't supported.  Which is it please?

Hi, @MiMojo. Being able to access the Single Sign On/SAML using Azure or Okta will be of great help on your end, and we see you on that. Let me give insights to you on where you can best gather info about this.

The information you'll need will be of greater cater to Intuit Developer. They have the complete knowledge about how to enable Single Sign On/

SAML using Azure or Okta, and can explain to you the deeper details to clear things up on your end. And to reiterate, here's how you can connect to them:

  1. Go to this site Intuit Developer Support.
  2. Click on API Docs & Tools and select QuickBooks Online.
  3. Choose the Ask a Question button to post your concern.

On the other hand, you can also use Google SSO to sign in to QuickBooks Online, check out this article: Sign in to QuickBooks Online with Google .

Moreover, if you have other QuickBooks concerns, feel free to click this link and scan some articles: QBO help articles.

For additional questions, don't hesitate to come back here. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Keep safe always.

Point users to API documentation is not an idiomatic approach to solving SSO. It's best practice for a SaaS to provide XAML authentication to an enterprise's identity system. I should be surprised that Intuit doesn't value the security of its users over forcing their own products/identity systems on them.
