Hi YLMC Creative,
It's vital you're able to customize the width on your QuickReport. Rest assured, I'll be happy to give you a hand with this so you can continue managing your business with peace of mind.
QuickBooks is designed to help save you time and I'd like for you to enjoy that benefit. Based on what you've described, I'd recommend clearing cache and cookies on your browser as a method of troubleshooting. Clearing cache and cookies helps fix most minor issues the site may be having. Here's an article that shows you how to do that: How to clear cache and cookies. I encourage you to try this out and let me know what happens when you try editing the columns again.
I'll be one message away in case you need further assistance.
Hello @JamesM4
Thank you for the tip, but unfortunately that did not resolve the issue. Any other advice?
Thanks for trying that. When you hit print/preview and you see the pop-up which shows you what the report will look like before printing it, are your edits reflecting on this screen?
@JamesM4
No, the edits are not reflected on the print [preview] screen.
Thanks for trying this out. After doing some research, it's important to note that this is one of the program limitations. You can edit the column and view wide columns on-screen, however, the columns return to normal when you print/preview them. I can see the benefit of being able to print wider columns on your reports and I recommend sending feedback about this to our engineers. You can do this by clicking the Gear icon and looking for Feedback. New product ideas and improvements are largely based on the great feedback we get from users like you. Feel free to ask other questions.
This isn't the greatest solution to your problem, but you can export the report to Excel. Once there, you can edit the column widths. It isn't necessary to have all of the data on your screen before exporting; the full entry will appear in Excel even if it is truncated on the report as it appears in QBO.
Hi there dkitzmiller,
Thank you for sharing your solution with the Community. This will make it possible to take a QuickBooks report and modify the column width for printing. This can be accomplished by clicking on the Export Icon located beside the Printer, then selecting Export to Excel. Once in Excel, you can edit the column with as well as other information to personalize the view to print.
