Item Receipt with zero dollars

We have old item receipts that are zero dollar value for customer-owned inventory.

If we go under Enter Bills Against Inventory some vendors have 20 lines showing. How do I close these and not affect anything else?

Item Receipt with zero dollars

Yes, you can close all the item receipts that have zero dollars with no impact, @Dog-Dog. Let me discuss this in detail.

I recommend manually deleting them. Once the transactions are deleted, they will permanently vanish from your financial records. Since those item receipts are for customers who owned inventory and the amount is zero, they will not affect your financial statements.

However, if the item receipt has a quantity, even if the value or amounts are still zero, the quantity of that specific item will be removed once the item receipt is deleted.

To delete an item receipt, here's how:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Desktop account.
  2. Go to the Vendors menu at the top, then Bills Tracker.
  3. Select Item Receipt in the drop-down for Type.
  4. Double-click the open item and click Delete
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Item Receipt with zero dollars

Hello there, Dog-Dog. I'll provide details on handling old items receipts that show when you enter a bill in QuickBooks Desktop(QBDT).

Please note that deleting an old item receipt from a closed period affects your financial report and inventory since these are posting transactions.

Item Receipt with zero dollars

AdonL,

Thank you for your answer. To clarify all of the item receipts are at zero dollars. Is there a way to close them with no impact? They are from 2002 - 2020. I want to remove them from my "enter against inventory listing".

Thank you.
